Another new client. New to boats. Not willing to understand the process or what a verbal agreement looks like.

6 hours of work for nothing.

Other contractors have been notified and unfortunately- one’s already been burned.

Winch Service:. 5 winches on a good ol’ Catalina 27 needed some attention. Over time, dust and pollen and weather turns grease into a chunky wax. The degradation happens over time, but once they’re serviced, only then- do you know how much they needed it. Tacks are faster due to less drag. Grinding effort is more focused on adjusting the line rather than overcoming mechanical drag. How? Full disassembly, springs checked. Gears and bearings cleaned with a brush. L**e where l**e is needed. Oiled where oil is needed. These things sing now.

Diesel tank clean out. Pulled a sample into the bucket. That wasn’t good. Rather than polish, we opted to empty and clean the tank. 12 gallons of fresh treated diesel added. Tank re-sealed. Fuel quality is the #1 problem I see on small marine diesels. It’s is nice to eliminate old fuel, water, growth and sediment. Old fuel will be recycled.

As other work opportunities grow - I have got to scale back marine service commitments.

I have 50 boats in cue for various repairs and maintenance.

If you are on that list, thank you for your patience. Please know that I am only in town part time now - and much of that, I am caring for my daughter. If you want off the list or a referral to another service provider (if one exists), please let me know.

I am not accepting any new projects until Fall and those will only be under a narrower scope of service offerings.

Many of you have tagged me for oil and filter changes. I will be in oil, oil filter and fuel filter mode over the next few weeks. Some are having water separators and impellers changed too. Thank you for your patience.
