HOW TO FIND YOUR OWN S**T!
No, I’m not being a smartass,
It’s just the question I get asked the most…
So here’s a short HOW TO
On how to find your own parts, or part numbers.
Yes, you can copy and paste a number into eBay to find used and obsolete parts.
Remember, RED numbers are called SUPERSEDED (replaced with a different number but it’s the “same part”)
If a price is not listed, or
If it says NLA (no longer available)
Then it is no longer offered from the OEM. (original equipment manufacturer)
Also… OEM is a term COPIED by the chinesium guys…
They use the term,
but it ain’t the same quality.
So if the price is too good and still says OEM … it’s probably a cheap copy.
(You’ve been warned.)
Keep in mind:
THE PARTS ARE FOUND IN THE GENERALIZED AREA OR ASSEMBLY THEY ARE A PART OF.
(But even that’s sometimes not true)
Some parts are found in obscure ass diagrams that have NOTHING to do with one another…
(One of the older Hondas has the ignition coils with the sticker diagram.)
For PAINTED PARTS:
Multiple colors are usually available, so make DANG SURE of your color code or color name!
(Even on bikes where they switch the color every year, multiple colors may be listed on that years parts breakdown.)
