DON'T DRINK AND DRIVE - CALL SBSO FOR A SAFE RIDE HOME

If youโ€™ve had too much to drink tonight, please donโ€™t get behind the wheel. Now through Jan. 2 deputies are offering free, safe rides home - no questions asked.

โ˜Ž Call us at (504) 271-2501 and a deputy will:

โžก๏ธDrive you home if you live in St. Bernard Parish.
โžก๏ธIf you live outside the parish, weโ€™ll bring you to a Sheriffโ€™s substation where a friend or family member can pick you up.

๐Ÿšซ Deputies will not transport anyone to bars, nightclubs, other parties or outside of St. Bernard Parish.

This long-running Holiday Ride Home Program, started in 1986, helps keep our community safe - and thatโ€™s something worth celebrating.

Sheriff James Pohlmann and the men and women of the St. Bernard Sheriffโ€™s Office wish everyone a Happy New Year!โœจ

SBSO OFFERS HALLOWEEN SAFETY TIPS

The St. Bernard Sheriffโ€™s Office will step up DWI and traffic enforcement on highways and in neighborhoods this weekend and through Tuesday, Oct. 31, for the protection of trick-or-treating children and adult party-goers.

โ€œMotorists are asked to slow down, be extra cautious and be especially mindful of pedestrians,โ€™โ€™ the Sheriff said.

Drivers should also look for possible roadblocks or barricades in neighborhoods, and are warned to never move them or drive around them, Sheriff Pohlmann said.

Parents should be vigilant about where they allow their children to venture while trick-or-treating and they should always travel in groups.

Also, parents should be sure to inspect all items children receive during trick or treating before they are allowed to consume or even handle anything.

If you find anything you suspect might be suspicious, the Sheriff said do not touch it and call 911 immediately. If you have non-emergency concerns, call (504) 271-2501.

Just a reminder that due to extreme drought conditions the Louisiana Office of State Fire Marshal issued a burn ban on August 7th. Today, the state is under a Red Flag Warning due to winds associated with weather activity in the Gulf that is elevating the fire danger level to one that is detrimental to our firefighters. Please pass this message along to others as the state's fire service is exhausted with response to illegal burn piles, many of which are growing to damaging wildfires. St. Bernard Fire Department
