CONGRATS to our Wheeler of the Month Jol Walker. Jol is a local Jeeper who loves his Jeep and the community. Here is a little bit about Jol in his on words:
1. A little about you and what led you to getting a 4x4
I’m Jol — Air Force veteran, lifelong tech guy, and someone who never touched a wrench until I bought my first Jeep. I spent years working in tech operations, solving problems, fixing systems, and keeping things running behind the scenes. But I’d never turned that mindset toward vehicles until I finally decided to jump into the Jeep world. What led me to a 4x4 was simple: I wanted something that challenged me, pushed me to learn new skills, and gave me a community. The Jeep became that and more, it opened a door to a whole new part of myself.
2. Your 4x4 details
I drive a 2024 Jeep Wrangler JLU Sport, affectionately named Z.
She started bone‑stock, and every upgrade since has been part of my learning curve. Some of the key mods include:
Luxx HD wheels
33" tires
Custom vinyl and zombie‑themed graphics
Lighting upgrades (pod lights and rock lights)
Voswitch Grab handle switch
Replaced both front and rear bumpers, fenders, fender liners
Every mod has been a hands‑on lesson, from wiring to tools to troubleshooting, and I’ve built all of it from scratch.
3. A little info about your trips and adventures
Z and I have hit a couple trails here in Central Texas. Every trip has been part adventure, part classroom. I’ve learned recovery, spotting, line‑picking, and how to trust both the Jeep and myself.
4. What you love about this 4x4 and the off‑road community
What I love most about my Jeep is that it represents growth. I went from zero mechanical experience to building, wiring, and modifying my own rig, and that’s something I’m proud of. But the off‑road community is the real heart of it. Jeep people help each other, teach each other, and show up for each other. On the trail, nobody cares about your background, just your willingness to learn, help, and wheel with respect. This community gave me confidence, skills, and friendships I didn’t expect. And that’s why I love being part of it.
