Since the origin of our beloved Tiki Bar has been a hot topic tonight, let’s close out Thursday with a little THROWBACK— featuring some faces you might recognize, and well-loved memories that paved the way to what it is today. 🫶

It was once Joyner’s, The Osprey, then Castaways— and eventually Low-Key Hideaway & Tiki Bar came to be.

During the demolition process after the storms, we were able to see a lot of the former motel structure, hidden under renovations and additions over the decades.

It’s important to remember that history is always in the making— it’s your story which adds to it.
Thank you to all who have made visiting/building/re-building our little slice of paradise part of your story. ☀️

Ooo— DRAMA!
Time to stir up the tea and lay out the facts 👀☕️

1) The picture is not AI— that’s really what we look like when you’re walking up the steps between the RV sites and the mangroves. In fact, all the pictures used in this article are real. (We kind of hate AI so this is a relief)

2) Cindy & Pat Bonish are the OG Tiki Bar owners who built this beautiful little escape we love so much. Definitely NOT in 1949. In fact, where the bartender stands used to be a HOT TUB! 🔥 They built incredible bottle walls, most of which were unfortunately lost in the storms in years recent. Pat came back post-storm with his right-hand man and helped us rebuild the wall inside of the bar. We love them both very much and still feature Cindy as a “Pin-Up” on our koozies 🫶

3) The article shares a lot of insight of how we roll at Low-Key, despite the totally inaccurate title, most information seemingly pulled from reviews and our website ➡️ LOWKEYHIDEAWAY.INFO

We love a little drama, and seeing everyone up in arms about the lies is pretty great 😂
We may be a little rusted over, but we’re not THAT old! Definitely over 21, fittingly. 🍻

75+ years of cheap beer, lap dogs, and sunsets over the Gulf—this colorful little Cedar Key bar has been doing waterfront right since 1949. Regulars come back three nights in a row just to watch the sun hit the water.
