Low Lake Levels

Sharing Ann's (Paradise Cove Ann) post below - it is the facebook link below - talking about low places on the lake.

There are places on the lake you can get in trouble when the lake is normal.... below normal, you better know where you are at all times and what the water depth is when we are below normal this far.

Our boat ramp is good - always. No holes in the concrete, no "back of the ramp" to drop off of... We built a coffer dam and dug out to 10ft deep inside the dam, then removed the dam. But, further out where we couldn't reach with the dragline - too shallow at this point to risk it - go along the jetty where we were able to dredge and you are all good. See photos when we were almost 3ft low - knee deep straight out from the ramp. I wish I could fix that, but I can't.

Same in front of our gas dock... upper calf thigh when we are 3ft down (photos are close to 3ft down) we are only 1.8ft below today and still dropping...

The "Humps" where everyone likes to fish - you can see those now. but there are ridges on the back side of both that you can't see.

Depth finders on for the first pass...
Make sure you know the depth where you are at...
It is still safe if you do those two things - have fun.

Labor day daily boat slips

If you want a tie on or covered slip for labor day weekned, let me know. Minimum 3 nights to reserve ahead of time. If we have some left open on the weekend, then it is however many nights you want.

Gas... I have been trying to wait for gas prices to go back down a little before getting our next load of gas... well, I waited too long. I ran out of 91 octane today and we are low on 87 octane.

We will fuel up this week, just not wanting to see what the price per gallon is... just in time for Labor Day.

Fishing Report

One of our customers had a great morning putting 75 sandbass in the boat between the first Island and freedom point - trolling. Same yesterday, but he was out around the island then.

They have been catching crappie in the docks still, which is a little unusual... We aren't that deep and they typically go out to deeper water until we start cooling down.

I haven't heard from anyone fishing for catfish or black bass.

The lake is currently 1.7 ft below normal, things that you could drive across in your boat before, you can't today.

Make sure you know the water depth where you're at do not assume as the lake goes down further.

Remember if you're using our boat ramp, the water depth around the ramp is good but straight out from the ramp where we could not dredge is too shallow. Go along the jetty where we could reach and you'll be fine.

Same goes in front of our gas stock if the lake level continues to drop we need to be very careful about coming in to get gas especially in deep running boats.

High Winds

No damage has been noted to any campers but we did have some canopies that tried to become kites... I will be up there tomorrow to look everything over harder.

We have electric, so if you do not have electric at your house - you have options, which is a good thing.

Lake Level - Below Normal...

We haven't seen below normal in a little while... remember, things that are fine when we are 20ft up, place you could safely drive, aren't when we are below normal. Make sure you have your depth finders on, make sure you know you are safe driving your boat at this lake level... if the lake drops more, make sure you are good at that level. Even people that have been on the lake for decades find things they forgot about when the lake is below normal...

Lowering lake levels at the man-made Fort Gibson Lake may have contributed to boat renters in the last week telling the 2 News Problem Solvers about crashes into flooded concrete and trees.
