A few questions have arisen from the recent headlines of exemptions from fuel tax.
Dairy has not been included in any proclamations and is still subject to the standard on-highway fuel taxes and regulations.
Governor Reynolds has signed a proclamation, in line with an executive order issued by President Donald Trump, suspending penalties for on-road dyed diesel use. This proclamation temporarily suspends regulatory provisions of Iowa Code Section 452A.74A(1) that restricts the use of dyed diesel for highway transportation in motor vehicles hauling soybeans, corn, hay, straw, silage, stover, fertilizer (dry, liquid, and gas), manure (dry and liquid), and distillers grains.
Regulatory provisions from the sale and use of such fuel for the same use are also temporarily suspended.
This proclamation is valid on all roadways in Iowa and expires Feb 2, 2027.
