As we enter the -BER months (September, October, November, December), we’re getting ready to welcome back our winter visitors.

Whether you’re returning for the season or just passing through, we want you to arrive safely and enjoy every mile of your trip.

A few helpful tips before you hit the road south:

🏞️Make sure your tires are in good shape as long drives and changing temps can cause wear.

🏞️Give your AC and heating systems a quick check so you’re comfortable no matter the weather.

🏞️Inspect your propane tanks and lines for leaks or damage.

🏞️Check your battery health because both hot and cold weather can drain weak batteries fast.

🏞️Look over your roof seals and slide seals to prevent leaks during winter rains.

🏞️Stock up on essentials like RV‑safe toilet paper, filters, and fuses before you travel.

Arizona heat is no joke, and when temps climb past 105°, even a healthy RV AC can struggle. Most RV air conditioners are designed to cool the inside about 20 degrees below the outside temperature.

So if it’s 108° outside, your AC may only be able to hold the inside around the high 80s to low 90s and that’s considered normal for many units.

There are a few things every RVer should know to keep their AC performing its best:

🧊Use RV‑rated AC expectations
Some units simply aren’t built for extreme desert heat. They’ll run nonstop, but the air may not feel “cold,” just cooler than outside.

🧊Change or clean your filters regularly
Dirty filters choke airflow and make your AC work twice as hard. Fresh filters can make a huge difference.

🧊Keep coils clean
Dust, dirt, and debris on the coils reduce cooling power. Clean coils = better performance.

🧊Check your seals
Hot air sneaking in around doors, slides, or windows makes your AC fight a losing battle.

🧊Shade helps more than people think
Parking with your AC unit out of direct sun or using reflective window covers can drop interior temps noticeably.

🧊Dual AC units may be needed for larger rigs
Big RVs often need two units to stay comfortable in Arizona summers.

If your AC feels like it’s struggling, it might not be broken... it might just need maintenance or a little help to keep up with the heat.
