Did you know some wild birds are entirely dependent on humans for survival? 🤯 We just learned something wild while looking out over the coast, and we had to share it with you all! 🌊🐦

If you've ever adventured along the coastal plain in places like North Carolina, you might have spotted these cool multi-room bird "condominiums" mounted on heavy poles by the water. Turns out, an incredible 95% to 98% of Eastern Purple Martins rely completely on human-provided birdhouses to nest and survive. They literally abandoned natural nesting spots to live alongside us thousands of years ago—a co-evolutionary tradition first started by Indigenous tribes!

But here's the surprising part we just discovered: this beautiful coastal tradition is quietly vanishing.

The dedicated "landlords" who meticulously build and manage these birdhouses are mostly older generations, with nearly 90% of them over the age of fifty. As these master craftsmen retire or pass away, fewer younger folks are taking up the mantle—often because the wide-open, expensive coastal properties required for the birds to fly safely are out of reach.

Because these birds are locked into a survival model that requires active human help, unmanaged birdhouses get taken over by invasive species, and entire local colonies can collapse in just a single season. It’s a powerful, fragile reminder of how deeply connected our human history is to the wildlife around us.

What happens when nature's greatest fisherman discovers a GoBoat?

The Great Blue Heron doesn't need rods, reels, or sonar. Standing over four feet tall with remarkable eyesight and lightning-fast reflexes, it's one of the most effective hunters in the coastal marsh.

This visitor spent the morning exploring our inflatable dock, the GoBoat X-Dock, and finally the GoBoat Double Fish, where he promptly landed two silver fish in quick succession.

We'd call that a five-star review.
