My first car stereo was a Sony cassette with a detachable face. I then upgraded to a Sony xplod radio with a full LED front panel. The face flipped down to reveal the CD slot and controls (CDX-M610). Sony car audio was part of my life before I knew this would become my career.
Many other companies made their radios cheaper to compete with cheap Chinese products. Sony decided to leave the industry instead of making a cheaper product to compete. Says alot about the company. That's why they are my prefered radio brand. It's a shame to see them go.
Sony is stepping back from the aftermarket car audio business, according to an email release sent Sept. 30, 2026.
