Battered Fish

Battered Fish Battered Fish is a 1970 383 4-speed 'Cuda that I've owned for about 30 years. This is NOT a restoration by any means.

The goal is to drive it legally to the 2022 Carlisle Chrysler Nationals.

I got a little bit behind due to Spring Carlisle last week and work in general. Since Mason Dixon was canceled today, I was able to rebuild and install all of the clutch linkage. One step closer 😁

Ok, I need some help. I can't get the trans to go all the way in. It goes all but the last 1/4"-3/8". I installed the trans without the clutch prior to the final install and it was fine. I can get all 4 bolts to line up so it should be lined up fine. I did NOT try to draw it tight with the bolts. I have a transmission jack so I'm able to tilt it front to back and side to side. It's off by about the thickness of the front bearing retainer but it's the same retainer and bellhousing. Any suggestions?

Meet Battered Fish, my '70 383 4-speed 'Cuda that I bought about 30 years ago (yes, around 1992) with intentions of restoring it. Time is something I don't really have so rather than put it on the rotisserie, I decided to just make it drivable and have fun!

It's a very solid car but it's had a rough life. The right quarter was repaired and the header panel and right fender have been replaced, all with used/junkyard pieces prior to me. Floors and frame rails are nearly perfect.

Prior to creating this page, I had already dropped in a good running 383 ( engine was long gone) and fully rebuilt the 4-speed. I've also installed stainless brake and fuel lines.

Next up is to get the transmission in. After that, I will rebuild the entire front suspension and add a Right Stuff disc brake conversion. Small steps.
