Boats and Fun - Post-Hurricane Milton Update

We’re so grateful to share that our place made it through Hurricane Milton with minimal damage! A huge thank you to our incredible team for their hard work in prepping the building, boats, and golf carts, and safely removing the lithium batteries from the entire fleet to avoid fire hazards during the storm surge.

We’re busy getting everything back on the island and ready for your next visit!

Here’s what’s happening now:

🚤 Private Water Taxi service is running 24/7!
🛺 Golf cart rentals will resume once the roads are clear!
🛒 Our online store is open, and we can ship a little piece of North Captiva right to your doorstep!
🛠️ Golf Cart Sales & Parts: We’re now offering custom-built golf carts and parts for homeowners, so you can get your house back in shape!

For those whose trips were canceled due to the storm, we’re waiving all cancellation fees and hope you can make it back soon!

Hurricane Helene Update from Boats and Fun

We’re happy to announce that despite some flooding, we’ve cleaned up and our store on North Captiva is back open 7 days a week, from 9 AM to 5 PM! You can make reservations for your next trip online or by phone.

We’re also relieved to report that our entire boat and golf cart fleet were spared by the flooding! 🛺 However, there is still standing water on the island, but with dry weather, we’re optimistic that conditions will improve soon. We’ll keep you updated on the progress as the island recovers!

Did you know that these gentle giants are an integral part of the North Captiva Island experience? 🏝️ They add that extra bit of magic to our vacations! But to ensure their safety and well-being, we all need to play our part in protecting them. Here are some essential tips to keep in mind:

🚫 Don't offer them freshwater from hoses or bottles: While it might seem harmless, feeding manatees alters their behavior. Let's keep their wild instincts intact!

⚓ Slow down near the shore: Within 200 yards, remember to maintain idle speed. Manatees are slow movers and need time to react to oncoming boats. By slowing down, we give them a better chance to avoid collisions.

🛡️ Know the law: Manatees are not just adorable, they're also endangered. Protected by various laws, including the Marine Mammal Protection Act and the Endangered Species Act, harassing or harming them is illegal. Remember, offering them water can result in fines of up to $5,000. Let's respect their sanctuary status and give them the space they need to thrive.
