Hello, Southwest Florida friends! Now that our brief participation in winter is coming to an end, it is a good idea to make sure your air conditioning system is working properly. Today, we are working on replacing a leaking evaporator core on a 2019 Ford Transit van. I figured I would post a short video to explain what an evaporator core is, where it is, and why it costs so darn much to get one replaced!

Hey, friends! SWFL has been experiencing some pretty bad flooding lately. So, I figured I would post a warning. Please don't drive down roads that are submerged under water. It is almost impossible to judge the actual depth of the water. Avoid the costly repair bills and find a different route! The vehicle in the video I posted did not recover and was eventually totaled by the person's insurance company for less than was owed on the loan. It isn't worth it, folks. Seriously, find a different route.

Good morning, everyone! So, I received a call from a friend who drives a 2008 Chevy Silverado that developed a pretty significant "tick" while the engine was running. After some investigation, I found that the Active Fuel Management (or AFM) lifters were bad and need to be replaced. I explained that this is a common issue and there is a solution! Long story short, I spent the first half of the day removing the cylinder heads and sending them off to the machine shop to get cleaned and resurfaced. I will post pics during reassembly later in the week!
