For our third Fall Car Care Month topic, we’re focusing on battery health and what colder temperatures can tell you about its condition.

A battery can start your vehicle without any noticeable trouble all summer and still be losing strength. Once temperatures begin to drop, starting the engine requires more from the battery. That extra demand can make an already weakened battery much more noticeable.

You might notice slower cranking when you start the vehicle, but sometimes there isn’t much warning at all. That’s why battery testing is a useful part of preventive maintenance. It gives us information about the battery’s condition before a cold morning is the thing that tells you there’s a problem.

It doesn't take long for a rodent to turn your engine compartment into a nesting spot.
As the weather changes, rodents are often looking for a warm, protected place to hide. Unfortunately, the space under your hood checks all the boxes. Along with nesting materials like this, they can chew through wiring, damage sensors, and create expensive electrical problems before you even realize they're there.

If you've noticed a strange smell, or you see signs of rodents around your home or garage, it's worth taking a look under the hood before a small problem becomes a much bigger repair.

If you run an HVAC company or another local business with vehicles on the road every day, you already know that having a truck down at the wrong time can throw off an entire schedule.

For HVAC companies, this time between the heavy summer A/C season and winter heating calls may give you a little more flexibility. If one of your vehicles has maintenance coming up, a warning light you’ve been keeping an eye on, or a concern you’ve been meaning to address, this can be a good time to take care of it.

The goal is to use the slower time to your advantage. Get the vehicle serviced while you can plan around it, rather than losing it for a day when your schedule is packed and your customers are waiting.

October is Fire Prevention Month, and vehicle safety is part of that conversation too. 🗣️

Your vehicle will usually give you some indication when something isn’t right. A new burning smell, an electrical issue, a visible fluid leak, smoke, or another unusual change is what you need to pay attention to.

That doesn’t automatically mean something serious is happening, but it does mean it’s important to understand why it’s happening rather than continuing to drive and hoping it goes away.

If you notice something unusual with your vehicle, give us a call. We can test and inspect it, explain what we find, and help you understand what needs attention.

We’re continuing Fall Car Care Month with two areas that have a lot to do with how your vehicle handles changing road conditions: your tires and brakes.

As temperatures drop, tire pressure drops with them. If your tires are already low, worn unevenly, or getting close to the end of their usable tread, that can affect how well they maintain contact with the road.

Your brakes matter just as much. Wet pavement, fallen leaves, and eventually frost can all change how much traction you have available when you need to slow down or stop. This is why we pay attention to brake condition and changes you may notice, like new noises, pulling, vibration, or a difference in how the brake pedal feels.
