Today like nearly every day here we are super busy. We have a Buick in bay #1 getting new spark plugs and a new serpentine belt, in bay #2 the customer approved new shocks and struts on their VW Beetle and in bay #3 a really clean Toyota Highlander owned by a long time customer is getting a service and complete inspection before Winter. We also have several other vehicles in the lot waiting for their turn as well.

My mentor always liked to remind everyone in the shop that the difference between performing a repair and performing a repair the correct way was in the process. We have a vehicle in the shop that needs front brake pads as well as rotors and while it would be faster to simply install the parts and move on to the next vehicle, I wouldn’t be respecting my customers safety if I skipped one the important steps like taking the extra time to make sure that the hub fl**ge was clean and rust free. While it may not seem like a big issue, rust buildup between the fl**ge and mounting side of the rotor can cause the rotor to warp. That warpage can greatly affect stopping ability, smoothness and especially safety. I’ve never skipped this step along with a few others in nearly 30 years and will never. Customers trust me with their safety and that’s something that should not be taken lightly.
