I have always wondered what to say on Veteran’s Day to show how much I really appreciate your Protection and Freedom you all give us on a daily basis. This is a message from my Son💙
CELEBRATE YOUR DAY❣️WE LOVE YOU❣️
I dont care if you serve 4 years, 5 years, 10 years, or 20+ years in the military. The reality is you sacrifice your whole life!!! You dedicate your life, usually right out of high school to become a machine. You are trained to do everything differently. Every thing you once knew is now seen through different eyes. After training there is a chance that you will go to war. Once you go to war you will see, hear, smell, taste, and feel things that stay with you the rest of your life. That is all you know as an adult. You have yourself, your brothers and sisters, and your faith. The only support system you've known your entire life may be on the other side of the world! So you form what bonds you can with the people battling with you, and that's your new family! There is a chance everyday that you or one of your new family members may not make it through.
If you are lucky enough to make it through, then you are welcomed back to what you always knew as home. It doesn't take you long to realize home isn't the paradise you dreamed about the past years. Nothing seems right, nothing feels right. Everything is different, but it's not. You are!!!! The life you once knew is over. You are now a Veteran! There is no switch to flip back to civilian life. Heck, you dont know civilian life, you were just a kid when you transformed into that machine.
I am not a veteran! I never really thought too much about the sacrifices they made. If I saw a veteran missing a leg, of course i could see his sacrifice, but I never thought about the mental and emotional sacrifice EVERY service member makes. You do all that for your country, and you might get a discount here and there, a free cup of coffee or doughnut. You tell me is it worth it?
Thank you to all the Veterans!! Today is your day!! Its isn't even close to enough to recognize what you have done.
And an extra thank you to my veteran Reihannon for helping me see more into the life of a veteran. I love you so much!!! Thank you for your service!!!
