If you own a 2.5-litre Optimax or any older EFI or carbureted 2.5 engine, this video is for you. I recommend a water pump service every three years (at the very least). If you run your engine a lot or do tournament fishing, I would do this every two years. This is a prime example of "blade set," meaning the impeller blades are rolled over excessively, as seen in the video. This causes reduced water pump pressure and overheating. Edit: There are many different opinions on how often a water pump should be replaced. This is my own personal opinion and what I've seen working on these engines here in Missouri.

I'm running old-school today.

This is a long video, but did you know you can rebuild your own starter? Back in the day, we fixed everything instead of replacing it. I like to do this kind of stuff. I keep reman starters in stock as well as new ones.

Will automotive belts work on a Marine Engine? Don't waste time at the auto parts counter. Use the correct OEM belt and get back on the water.
