UPDATE 🚨: The poorly explained HF 3865 bill was dismissed from discussion for now, laws remain unchanged!

Now that reps from the classic car community are aware of this, hopefully, they can work together for beneficial terms. They must have received enough messages from the community to pull it from today’s docket!

Why this bill was a trap for MN car culture:
A new bill (HF 3865) was fast-tracked with a committee hearing only 21 days after being introduced. While it claimed to "grant" us weekend use, the fine print actually created a legal curfew and ticketable offense the other 5 days of the week :

❌ THE WEEKDAY TRAP: By specifically listing weekends, the bill effectively outlaws Monday through Friday. It removes the current legal protection for "maintenance and repair," meaning a Tuesday trip to a shop for service or a tune-up becomes a ticketable offense.

❌ MAINTENANCE IS EXERCISE: SEMA (the industry standard) argues that regular driving and "exercise" are essential parts of classic car maintenance to keep seals from drying and mechanical parts from seizing.

❌ "DAYLIGHT PERMISSION": Restricting us to "Sunrise to Sunset" is patronizing and outdated. We shouldn't have to trade 5 days of flexibility for 2 days of "permission"—especially when we already pay for a daily driver that sits parked while we maintain our classics.

The only exception was for "parades and exhibitions," which is way too vague and leaves every one of us at risk for a ticket just for enjoying our hobby.

Let’s keep our classics on the road—any day of the week! 🛠️🇺🇸

🏁🎃 Frankensteiner’s Ball 2025 – The Final Lap 🎃🏁

We always close out the Ball with awards, trophies, and prizes — but what really steals the show is the kids’ bike giveaway. 🚲💫

Watching those kids light up, shout with joy, some even tearing up a little as they walk away with their new bikes… it’s pure magic. The crowd claps, the smiles spread, and for a moment everyone remembers why we do this — for the community, the camaraderie, and the joy we can share. ❤️

Of course, those cash prizes weren’t bad either — $250 and $500 to sweeten the day 💵😎 — but it’s those moments with the kids that hit deepest.

As we wrap up this 20th Anniversary Frankensteiner’s Ball, I’m feeling nothing but gratitude and pride. What a ride.

Here’s to good friends, great cars, and an even better year ahead.
Peace, and may your Christmas and New Year be loud, shiny, and full of horsepower. ✌️🎄💥
