Let’s Go ahead and talk about this S197 that we brought back to life. This poor car has been through the wringer with some of the sketchiest work I’ve ever seen done on a “completed” build with a very large shop bill.
To kick it off we had a fuel hat that was leaking. Instead of using the proper gasket made for the hat, RTV was smeared all over the Fuel Hat Ring and around the pump itself. Then to make things better the factory fuel line was cut and then a push lock adapter was used that was also leaking.
The car had a Gen 2 Coyote installed into it. However, the “dyno tune” that was done was pretty embarrassing. The car would barely cruise at low speeds without bucking you out of your seat as well as spitting and sputtering cruising down the road. WOT was almost impossible to do because of the fact that the engine would almost stall when you put your foot to the floor. Safe to say ChatGPT could have done a better job.
But don’t worry about any of that now. We fixed all of the fuel leaks with proper gaskets, ran a new 6AN fuel feed line as a temporary solution until the new return style fuel system arrives. We removed a bunch of wiring that was strung all over the car. Changed out the nasty transmission fluid. And to end it all off we retuned it!
My favorite part of this job is the sheer difference in the car after I’m done with it. The customer is extremely happy with the results and the car runs like a top now!
Check out the final pull at the end!
