The latest updates on Overkill 2.0

* Last of the mods done for mounting the new Oberon Clutch slave. Unfortunately the previous Yoyodyne Slave that was fitted 16 years ago was no longer serviceable, so a full replacement was necessary which had a slightly different fitment and required some redesign to the cover and internals.

* We managed to fine an old aftermarket Alloy Finned Starter cover that was in NewOldStock condition, They came with rather tall fins which were a bit too "70's Disco" for the look of this project, so I milled about half the height down and detailed the rest.

* The custom Oil presser gauge was showing it's age, so we fitted a new one as well as cleaned & polished the Sprocket cover while it was apart.

* While replacing the worn out chain & sprockets, the decision was made to upgrade the rear with a Custom order from SuperSprox. They have an Alloy center and hardened steel outer ring.

The new upgraded Ohlins Steering Damper is designed with an Eyelet style mount on the Damper Body, and the previous Damper body was designed with a Clevis style mount. So due to the Frame having been previously modified for mounting a corresponding Eyelet, it was necessary to come up with a new solution that could mount a Clevis style bracket to the frame as is, with out disturbing the powdercoat.

Hey all. I'd been out of commission with shoulder surgery lately, so nothing to post till now.

A shout out to the team at Trackside Suspension & Engineering for setting us up with a special order for upgrading the Rear Shocks with a sweet set of Ohlins.

We had very specific requirements to fit the configuration of the Cafe Overkill 2.0 project. The challenge was not only getting the optimum spring rate, Preload, fully adjustable rebound and damping, with external reservoirs, but finding a shock body itself that will accommodate our rather tight fitment requirements, as well as having the desired comedic elements. The result was a special order from the Öhlins factory in Europe, to assemble a set specifically for the project. The whole process from initial contact to final arrival of the shocks was a bit lengthy, working out the details and processing the order with HQ to complete the assembly, so if you are looking at having a similar process done for a project, give yourself and the team a few months lead time. It's Well Worth the Effort and the TSE team were Fantastic to work with!

(Side note; While we were at it, we ordered an upgrade for the Steering Damper! More on that to come, so stay tuned) ;)

PS: Sorry for the blurry pix, my hands are a bit shaky these days.

Apparently a bit of a last minute dissension, so if you or anyone you know is in the market, here's the chance!

Another Update on the list of Cafe Overkill updates:

We've bumped the Brake Rotors up to the next level by scalloping the outer perimeter.
Back when I originally built this project, we had the Rotors drilled and resurfaced to a thinner, lighter profile but not having a mill in-house would have made that extra machine work rather costly and it just wasn't in the budget. But now I can make this modification here in the shop for just under $60 per Rotor, so that made for an easy choice to do it on this round.
What are the benefits to this feature? There is a slightly greater reduction of overall weight, as well as slight addition of increased cooling of the brake system, but the overall motivation was the "Groovy" factor, bumping it up to a more modern performance Rotor.
I also counterbored the 6 Rotor mounting holes to allow for clearance of the Speedometer drive unit, which was recently added.
