Today we have a 2017 Honda Pilot with a very unusual issue.

The customer has been having an issue with the alarm sounding and lights coming on randomly. The car would be locked and the key is no where near it. The dash would light up and the car would almost seem like it wants to start it self.
I Duplicated the issue many times in the shop, the alarm would go off and lights would illuminate within 5 minutes of locking it walking away.

The cause was the keyless access module, one of the pins on the circuit board had some sort of growth. This is due to the lack of coating over the IC on the board.
Fortunately we were able to clean this area off and seal it with a coating to prevent the growth from reoccurring and this has fixed the issue and saved the customer a lot of money!
The alternative would be to replace the module and have it programmed to the vehicle.
