1992 Mustang 5.0 build update. Coilover install, new parking brake system, fuel injector repair, and an MSD ignition box.

Here is the part worth paying attention to. On a Foxbody, the factory parking brake lives inside the rear drums. Convert to rear discs and that parking brake stops working. Plenty of shops do the conversion, hand you the keys, and never bring it up. Then you find out the hard way on a hill, or at inspection, or when the car rolls.

We do not leave loose ends like that. New system, working brake, done right.

The rest of the list is real work too. Coilovers mean ride height set and the car aligned after, not just bolted on. Injector work matters because a 5.0 that runs rich, lean, or rough is usually fuel delivery, not the tune everyone blames. And an MSD box gives you a stronger, more consistent spark, which is exactly what a built 302 wants.

Audi S6 in for an oil change, A/C check, and A/C recharge.

Notice the order there. Check first, recharge second. That matters more than most people realize.

Refrigerant does not get used up. It is a sealed system. So if your A/C is low, something let it out. Anybody can hook up a machine and fill it, and your air will be cold for a few weeks until it leaks right back out and you are standing there paying for the same service twice. That is why we check the system before we put anything into it.

On the oil side, the S6 runs a twin turbo V6 that is particular about oil spec. Turbos run hot and they live on clean oil at the correct viscosity. Put the wrong stuff in one of these and you are shortening the life of the most expensive parts under the hood. We use what Audi calls for, every time.

This is the kind of job that gets turned away everywhere. It is not a part you order and bolt on. You are working on a roof, which means fitment, hinge alignment, structure, and above all sealing. Get any of that wrong and the owner finds out the first time it rains, and then you are not fixing a top anymore. You are fixing water damage, mold, and rotted wood inside a van somebody sleeps in.

To every man and woman who has worn the uniform: thank you.

This Toyota Chaser belongs to an Air Force serviceman. Right hand drive, 1JZ powered, brought back from Japan while he was stationed overseas. He drove it up from Orlando for coilovers, ride height, and an A/C diagnosis.

We were glad to have it. But we were more glad to have him.

Because here is what most people never really sit with. While the rest of us are home for Thanksgiving, somebody is not. While we are watching our kids open presents, somebody is watching a perimeter twelve time zones away. Birthdays missed. Anniversaries missed. First steps and first words seen through a phone screen if they are lucky enough to get a signal that day.

And their families carry it too. The spouse holding the house together alone. The kids counting months instead of days. The parents who answer the phone at strange hours hoping it is good news.

They do all of it so we can run our businesses, raise our families, and argue about small things in a country that is free enough to let us. That is not a debt you pay back with a discount or a bumper sticker. You just try to live like it was worth it.

Subaru WRX STI in for a custom rear diffuser install, imported straight from Japan.

Here is the thing about JDM parts. They almost never bolt on and line up. Mounting points do not match, hardware is different, and there is no instruction sheet telling you where it goes. You measure, you mark, you test fit, you adjust, and you do it again until the gaps are even on both sides and it sits where it should. Rush that and it hangs crooked, rattles at speed, or rips off on the first driveway you scrape.

That is why the tape and the marks in these photos. That is the actual work.

And we have to talk about this hood. Full transparent hood over one of the cleanest engine bays we have had in the shop. Carbon covers, polished hardware, neochrome everywhere, and all of it on display without opening a thing. Paired with the gold wheels, this car stops people in the parking lot.

Right hand drive Toyota Chaser, imported from Japan. In for coilovers and a proper drop. Sitting exactly where he wanted it.

He passed a lot of shops on the way here. That is not us bragging. That is what happens when you own something most places will not touch.

JDM imports scare shops off. Right hand drive layout, Japanese market parts, service info that is not in the usual database, and no dealership to fall back on. So owners get told no, or they get told yes by someone who then learns on their car. Neither one is good.

Coilovers are also not a bolt on and done job. Ride height gets set, corner balance matters, and the car needs an alignment afterward or you will chew through tires and it will not drive right. Done properly, the car sits how you want and still drives like it should.

Timing belt replacement on this 2014 VW Passat TDI.

Here is why this job matters. The 2.0 TDI is an interference engine. That means if the timing belt breaks, the pistons and valves occupy the same space at the same time. The belt does not just leave you stranded. It destroys the engine. Bent valves, damaged pistons, and a repair bill that can pass what the car is worth.

A timing belt is a scheduled replacement item. It is not a wait-until-it-fails part. Check your interval and get ahead of it.

This is also the job most general shops in the area will not take. Diesel timing service needs the correct VW tooling to lock the cam and crank in position. Get it off by one tooth and the car runs wrong or does not run at all. So they hand it back and tell you to drive to a dealership an hour away.

Temp gauge creeping up in this Florida heat? Do not drive on it. Get it in.

Water pump replacement on this Audi A4. Your water pump is what moves coolant through the engine. When it fails, coolant stops circulating, and an engine with no circulation overheats fast.

Here is why this matters more in August than in January. Your cooling system already works overtime in Florida. A pump that is starting to go will still get you through a cool morning. Then you sit in traffic on US-1 at 2pm and the gauge climbs.

An overheated engine does not just need a water pump anymore. Warped heads, blown head gaskets, cracked blocks. That is the difference between a repair and a replacement.

Watch for these:
Temp gauge running higher than normal
Sweet smell or steam from under the hood
Coolant spots under the front of the car
Whining or grinding from the front of the engine
Coolant level dropping between checks

Oil spots on your driveway? Get it diagnosed before it costs you an engine.

This Infiniti M35 was leaking oil. We pulled the transmission, replaced the rear main seal, and resealed the upper oil pan.

Here is what most people do not realize. A rear main seal sits between the engine and the transmission. To reach it, the transmission has to come out. That is why shops either quote it high or tell you to live with the leak.

We do not tell people to live with it. A slow oil leak means you are losing oil between changes. Run low enough, long enough, and you are not paying for a seal anymore. You are paying for bearings, or a whole engine.

Check your driveway. Check your garage floor. If you see dark spots where you park, that is oil that belongs in your engine.

We diagnose oil leaks and find the actual source. Rear main seals, oil pan reseals, valve cover gaskets, timing covers. Foreign and domestic.
