When replacing the water pump impeller and all the fins are broken off, I try to locate all of them, if one is missing there’s a good chance it went up the water tube. This time I found all six.

Carburetors off motor that the seller said it ran last month. When buying a used motor, ask seller to start it and let is run for 5 minutes or give you a guarantee that it runs.
When I sell my refurbished motors I provide a written guarantee for 12 months.

It’s getting that time of year, here in the Midwest, to get your outboard ready for storage.
Disconnect fuel line and run motor out of gas.
Remove the prop check for fishing line.
Check gear l**e.

I’ve had three motors failed after I sold them. I had buyer bring the back under my guarantee. My guarantee does not cover operator error.
All three where caused by bad fuel. All stated they cleaned the fuel tank added new mix fuel and connected there hose to the motor. Big problem they failed to purge the old fuel out of the fuel line on their fuel tank. Motor started, as it had good fuel in system from my test run. Motor only ran for about a minute, before the bad fuel reached the carburetor. End of story!
