Well there it is. The MR2 loaded up this morning headed to Race Protocol in Wampum PA! This car has had an idling problem since I brought it home. We have narrowed it down to the injectors. I just got the new fuel pump installed and now its to Doug and Chance to get EVERYTHING done. Timing belt, gaskets, clutch, radiator, 750cc injectors, top feed fuel rail, v***r honing, new hoses, sort the brakes, alignment, etc...... I can't wait to just go out the the car, turn the key and have nothing to worry about. I am very blessed to have a great representation of my dream car. After this, just a few cosmetic things and it will be done. Who would have thought........ me with a project car that is done! 🤣🤣🤣 So if you haven't seen it this summer, that would be why! If you are looking for a shop that does more than your average mechanical, these are your guys. Hit them up if you have a project and need a hand. They work on everything!!!

30 years ago today, Brookville was flooded. I was at Camp Mountain Run for boyscout camp. I will never forget the phone call from my parents! We couldn't get home because downtown and even 5 mile run just down from our house was flooded. Our scout group met at the EUM church and it too was flooded. I vividly remember riding my bike around in the days after and seeing the cleanup efforts. My brother and I found a purse with a woman's wallet inside and we even got it back to her.

The one thing I can say for everyone that they remember most was the smell. I have never smelled that odor since. Nor do I want to. It lingered for what seemed to be weeks even after things seemed to be almost normal. Some people lost everything. Some people needed to be rescued from their porch roof!

Here we are 30 years later. Owning 2 of the buildings that not only went through it all, but survived. While we have done some demolition on both buildings through the years, we have come across the silt in the walls from that very flood. It never really ever goes away. Something like that. It will always be etched in my memory. Believe me...... if you know me and my memory, that is beyond impressive......

Weeks after the flood, I went into Ray's place. South Side Market. I can't remember how long it took Ray to get open. It was quite awhile. For those of you that don't know, South Side Market was just below the police station on the very end of Euclid St. My brothers, friends and I would frequently be seen riding our bikes to Ray's for his phenomenal beef jerky. Made it himself from scratch! Best beef jerky ever. Always had full shelves of candy and pop too! On that particular day after he opened up, I bought a butterfinger candy bar with my normal jerky. On the ride home, I opened the candy bar only to that smell again! For some reason, I got the one that was evidently in the flood!🤣 No worries! The next one out of a new box was fine. That will always stick with me as well.

Before cell phones and "Al Gore's" internet, we were all still depending on each other in the neighborhood. Helping where and however we could. It's sad to think it takes a flood or something terrible to happen to bring people together. Worse today than it was then. This experience, I feel, is part of the reason why I still try to go out of my way to help as much as i can. Here are some photos of that day and of me at present day in front of the shop as a reference. I also have a very unique set of photos given to me by a friend I will share tomorrow as well. In these photos, credit goes to Wayne Kocher and my dad Charles Greenawalt. Enjoy!
