I’ve been having a hard time getting a pwk to work on the 227cc animal on m5 and after trying several different sizes and countless jets decided to try a mikuni with the basic jetting setup the majority of the online retailers all sell them setup with. I’ve had the build apart several times to check for issues along with pressure testing the head so hopefully I’ll have an easier time getting this mikuni dialed in.

I finally got around to making a new caliper mount for the brakes on my motovox. I was originally going to run a polar so I fabbed and installed the tabs on the left side then decided to run a 3 disc so I had to relocate the caliper to the right side instead. I also installed a wilwood lever. Now to align the live axle and engine and I can install the clutch and get the carb dialed in.

I’ve been riding my cruiser around a lot more lately and was sick of the max torque jerking and bucking at low speed even with a modded black spring so I decided to dig out one of my old 30 series and install that instead. I ended up using aluminum weights with yellow garter springs, a lockout bushing and a green spring in the secondary and WOW what a difference! It now engages around 4,200 and woke it right up. Now I need to get a quieter muffler as that Rlv with 12:1 compression and an aggressive cam is pretty damn loud 🤣

Well I learned a valuable lesson do not use stock head bolts with a FM/ded head on an animal. I normally use head studs but didn’t have any threaded rod in the correct size and figured the stock bolts would work. I finished the build and was tuning the carb when it started smoking out the header indicating a blown head gasket. I take the head off and the bottom right bolt pulled 3-4 threads clean out the block and the gasket started leaking from the pushrod area into the combustion chamber. I retapped the block and got a piece of grade 8 rod and made some head studs that go more than an inch into the block that should take care of the issue.

I got bored and decided to make one of those adjustable coil brackets I keep seeing . This first one came out ok but I have a few ideas on how to make the next one better. I was able to get it to align over the flywheel magnet and not have to cut the coil stands down on a stock engine but haven’t tried it with an arc flywheel yet. I also need to break out the degree wheel and put some kind of marks on the plates to know where the timing is. All in all it was a fun project and I can’t wait to make the next one with some improvements.

Sometimes things just don’t work out. I was getting ready to take the motovox out for some testing and the throttle cable is sticking even after lubing everything up so I have a new one coming and will hopefully take the bike out in a few days when the new cable gets here.

Did a few upgrades to my cruiser I welded up the hemi chamber into an oval to raise the compression to 11:85:1 installed an ec reaper cam, header and Rlv muffler along with a tm24 mikuni. Bike is now a ton of fun!
