These two right here might represent the golden years of two completely different Dodge eras. 🔥

The late ’60s/early ’70s Charger was basically peak American muscle. Big V8s, aggressive styling, R/T badges, and a design that people are STILL obsessed with more than 50 years later.

Then… the Charger name went through some rough years. 😂 By the ’80s, the Charger had turned into a small front-wheel-drive hatchback. Some of those cars became cool in their own way, especially the Shelby versions, but let’s not act like it was the same thing as a ’68-’70 Charger R/T.

Fast-forward decades and Dodge did it again with the modern muscle era.

From 2015 through 2023, the Challenger Hellcat helped create another golden age. 707 horsepower eventually turned into 800+, 840, even 1,025 horsepower with the Demon 170. Dodge basically spent years asking, “How much horsepower can we legally sell people?” 😂

And now here we are again…

The HEMI Challenger is gone. The new Charger launched electric, followed by the Hurricane-powered Sixpack, and a LOT of Mopar people still aren’t sold on where Dodge is going.

History repeating itself? 👀

Golden era ➡️ questionable era ➡️ eventually another comeback?

Because if Dodge history has taught us anything, they can absolutely lose the plot for a while… and then somehow come back swinging.

Which era was better: classic Charger or Hellcat Challenger?

Everybody has been saying Stellantis is cooked… so these August numbers definitely caught my attention. 👀

According to sales data compiled by Stephens, U.S. new-vehicle sales overall were down about 6.3% compared with August 2025. But look at how the Big Three finished:

Ford: DOWN 10.3%
GM: DOWN 11.1%
Stellantis: UP 0.7% 😳

Now, 0.7% obviously isn’t some massive comeback for Stellantis 😂 but considering everything they’ve been through lately — pricing complaints, killing off the HEMIs in the Charger and Challenger, pushing EVs, the Sixpack rollout, leadership changes, etc. — simply being UP while Ford and GM were both down double digits is pretty interesting.

There is some context here too. August 2025 was an unusually strong month because buyers were rushing to take advantage of expiring EV tax credits, so this doesn’t necessarily mean Ford and GM suddenly fell off a cliff. The overall market was expected to be down year over year because of that comparison.

Still… after hearing for the last couple years that Stellantis is dying while everybody else has it figured out, these numbers are kind of funny. 😂

Maybe bringing back HEMIs, getting Ram back on track and actually listening to what their customers want is starting to make a difference.

Do you think Stellantis is finally turning things around, or is this just one good month?

Part 6 of the Viper V10 story… and unfortunately, this is where the story ends. 🐍

When the Viper came back for 2013, Dodge took the already ridiculous 8.4L naturally aspirated V10 and pushed it even further.

The Gen V launched with 640 horsepower and 600 lb-ft of torque, and later models were rated at 645 horsepower.

No supercharger.
No turbos.
Still a 6-speed manual.
Still rear-wheel drive.
Still an 8.4L V10 sitting right in front of you.

That’s what made the final Viper so special.

And then Dodge gave us the Viper ACR, which might be one of the wildest factory track cars they’ve ever built. Huge aero, massive brakes, serious suspension, and that same 645-hp V10 screaming underneath the hood.

By this point, the Viper had gone from:

1992 — 8.0L / 400 HP
1996 — 8.0L / 450 HP
2003 — 8.3L / 500+ HP
2008 — 8.4L / 600 HP
2013 — 8.4L / 640 HP
Final version — 645 HP

And then in 2017, Viper production came to an end.

When you really look at the whole history, it’s crazy how Dodge stayed committed to the same basic formula for so long. A massive naturally aspirated V10, a manual transmission, rear-wheel drive, and basically zero interest in making it easy to drive.

That’s exactly why people still love them.

I really hope we haven’t seen the last crazy V10 Dodge ever builds, but if we have… the Viper definitely went out the right way.

Which generation of Viper was the best one ever made?
