Fiberglass console door almost done and ready for gloss white topcoat to match the console paint. I'll prob make some type of storage bin on the back side of the door or maybe add some hooks to store a few dock lines.

I've been filming this entire process and it will eventually be a tutorial in my RESTO SCHOOL Library coming soon.

NEW YOUTUBE VIDEO // Acetone has a flash point of about 1.4°F. That means at any shop temperature, the v***r can light, and the safety data sheet says even static discharge can ignite it. Static from a shop-vac hose is enough.

On a boat, those fumes sink into the bilge and engine room… while someone else is vacuuming or running a heat gun.

❌“You can’t put polyester over epoxy.” You can, if the epoxy is fully cured and prepped right. Sandable isn’t cured, and leftover amine blush is what actually stops gelcoat from curing.

The test data says the bond holds.

Stop wiping your glass with acetone every time you sand. 🛑

Acetone has one job in a resto: cleaning grease and oil off before you sand. After that, wiping it over fresh scratches leaves gunk in them, can soften young resin, and does almost nothing to wax. And the v***r pools in your hull, where one spark can light it. There’s been several major boat fires around South Florida that were caused by the detailers using acetone that were ignited by vacuum cleaner hoses. This is not a risk you want in your shop !
