Finished buttoning up all the engine harness wiring and replaced all of the degraded split loom. Now onto pulling the new main wire harness into the dash.

❌ after reading through a bunch of really good and really stupid comments on my post yesterday I have a suspicion that I received a fake blue sea systems switch from Amazon that I ordered about 6 to 8 months ago.

❌ I had no desire to try to fix this thing myself but in hindsight I’m very happy that I tried because just in the past three days I’ve learned an incredible amount of knowledge about these engines. Now…will it stay running good ?? Who knows but when the day comes and this thing gives me more issues (like all boats do) I’m much better equipped to diagnose it myself. This engine has very low hours and I don’t see any benefit to spending money on anything newer.

☑️Not gonna lie. Google Ai was very helpful at helping me diagnose electrical gremlins in my 2006 Merc Optimax 150. It’s still not running but I’m definitely closer. Im pretty confident once I button up these wiring issues it should at least fire up 🤘🏼STAY TUNED 🤓

❌ some of the parts I make require custom features per the customers request. In order to save having to make a new mold for every hinge combination, I simply move details around the mold using mold inserts. It’s almost impossible to align these inserts using a tape measure because you have no solid reference lines to measure off. Having a template saves a lot of potential aggravation and extra work after making the part.

❌Typically when removing a rotting wood transom the bottom section is mush but the upper section is likely still bonded very well to the hull and it can be a challenge to cut it out. Using a cheap electric chainsaw could be the best option I’ve used for this job. Just cut GRIDS into the plywood cutting down to the glass layer and then using a hand or power chisel makes quick work of this otherwise annoying job.

The nice thing is that the chain won’t like cutting the fiberglass so you don’t have to worry about cutting through the glass by mistake. Also this will destroy the chain pretty quickly so you’ll likely need to sharpen or replace it for larger jobs.
