A customer came to us with electrical issues that seemed random but our technicians found the real culprit quickly.

• Intermittent signals flashing quickly
• Left headlight working/not working

That green buildup on this fuse box connection is corrosion. After months of winter roads, moisture, and salt, electrical connections can start to break down and cause strange problems. (There were more problems further down that line)

Customer had their 2019 GMC Terrain towed into our shop, Dave's Auto Service located here in Boyertown, Pa. for a very bad oil leak.

It didn’t take very long to determine what the problem was.
It has internal problem that is causing pressure build up in the engine oil pan. So the pressure has to go somewhere, so it’s trying to push out pass the oil fill cap and anywhere else it can. And in doing so, it’s pushing oil out with it.
So it’s going to be an engine replacement time.

Thursday evening, I had the opportunity to tour the Research & Development headquarters of Dorman Products in Colmar, PA.

It was fascinating to get a behind-the-scenes look at how automotive companies research common vehicle failures, test new ideas, and develop updated component designs for today’s constantly evolving vehicles. From advanced electrical diagnostics to mechanical testing equipment and industrial 3D printing technology, the amount of engineering involved was impressive.

At Dave’s Auto Service, we believe great repair shops never stop learning. Staying educated on new technologies, industry trends, and evolving vehicle systems helps us provide a higher level of service, better diagnostics, and a better overall experience for our customers.
