Our next veteran hero employee is Mike Pierce. Mike is the Assistant Body Shop Manager for Thayer. Mike was honorably discharged from the United States Navy in 1996 after four years of service. He was based in Norfolk, VA, and served on the USS George Washington as part of the flight deck crew. Mike guided the planes that landed on the deck of the aircraft carrier. His grandfather had served in the Navy, so that and the education opportunities led Mike to join the service. One of his best memories is when his ship went through the Suez Canal, as seen in the photo below. Thank you, Mike, for your service to our country and for being a veteran hero employee with Thayer Body Shop.

The Thayer Body Shop Service Estimator helps by appraising vehicle damage to determine the cost of repair for insurance claim settlements. They document the necessary repair work according to industry standards and insurance company regulations.

The ideal candidate has some post-secondary education, training and some experience. We are willing to train the right person, though. Candidates must have an unrestricted driver's license and a clean driving record and a strong technical and customer service performance record.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Prepares estimates for repair work according to the dealership, the insurance company, and industry standards.
Oversees the delivery of repairs and manages customer expectations.
Ensures that required documentation is complete and is in compliance with regulations and standards.
Maintains work area in a neat and organized manner.
Follows all safety policies and procedures.
Performs other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

Some experience is ideal
High school diploma or GED required
Excellent communication, customer service, and problem-solving skills, including the ability to maintain composure under stress.
Strong organization skills, able to multi-task, and can manage time to meet frequently changing deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Highly professional and dependable.
Unrestricted driver's license and clean driving record.

Responsibilities Include:

- Interacting with customers to assist them in purchasing automotive parts
- Create a positive buying experience to build customer loyalty
- Meet and assist both the technician and the guest in a friendly manner
- Obtain the correct parts & accessories for both the technician and the guest in a timely manner
- Accurately price parts and accessories and transfer information to the proper document and computer system.
- Answer telephone calls promptly, courteously, and make every effort to satisfy the caller’s inquiry
-Stock incoming inventory in the correct location
- Maintain the parts department
- Provide customers with needed information and offer additional sales opportunities.
