DID YOUR TIRE PRESSURE LIGHT COME ON THIS MORNING? YOU'RE NOT ALONE!
🥶 Boulder just experienced its first overnight freeze of the season, and those little yellow tire pressure warning lights are popping up all over town!
Why does this happen?
🌡️ Cold weather lowers tire pressure! For every 10°F drop in temperature, your tires lose approximately 1 PSI of pressure.
⚠️ Your car is doing its job! The Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS) detects when tire pressure drops below a safe threshold and turns on the warning light.
✅ Don't panic! Just because your tire pressure light came on doesn't necessarily mean you have a flat tire or a bad sensor.
Here's what you should do:
✔️ Check your tire pressures when the tires are cold.
✔️ Inflate your tires to the manufacturer's recommended pressure, found on the driver's door-jamb sticker.
✔️ If the light stays on or one tire keeps losing air, have it inspected for a possible leak.
