We get this question every day at Sager & Sons Automotive⁠ and here’s why we usually don’t.

Cheap shops quote on the phone.
Good shops inspect first.
Elite shops diagnose before prescribing.

If your vehicle is making noise, leaking, vibrating, pulling, overheating, or has a check engine light on… there could be multiple possible causes.

For example, what sounds like “just brakes” could actually be:
• Worn brake pads
• Bad rotors
• Sticking caliper
• Failed brake hose
• Loose suspension component
• Bad wheel bearing

Same symptom. Completely different repair.

We don’t believe in guessing.
We believe in testing, verifying, and diagnosing correctly the first time.

🚨 “Lifetime Transmission Fluid” Doesn’t Mean Forever 🚨

Have you ever been told your transmission fluid is “lifetime fluid”?

What many vehicle owners don’t realize is that “lifetime” often means the expected warranty period of the 🚗 vehicle not necessarily the life of the transmission.

Transmission fluid works hard every time you drive. It lubricates moving parts, cools the transmission, and helps apply the clutch packs that make your vehicle shift properly. Over time, heat breaks down the fluid and reduces its ability to protect internal components.

The hotter a transmission runs, the faster the fluid deteriorates. Once the fluid loses its protective properties, clutch wear increases, internal components wear faster, and expensive repairs become much more likely.

One of the biggest myths we hear is:
“If I change my transmission fluid, my transmission will fail.”

In reality, if a transmission fails immediately after a fluid service, the damage was already there. The old fluid was simply masking an existing problem. Regular maintenance helps prevent transmissions from reaching that point in the first place.

✅ Preventive maintenance is almost always less expensive than transmission replacement.

We recommend following a regular service schedule based on your driving habits, towing needs, and manufacturer recommendations. Waiting until there is a problem can turn a simple service into a major repair.
