Prayer: Lord, thank You for Your offer of living water. Help me to remember that there are people all around me who are thirsty for that eternal life and love that only You can offer them. Give me courage and discernment to start those conversations that will lead people to You. I pray in the name of Jesus. Amen.

"Jesus answered, 'Everyone who drinks this water will be thirsty again, but whoever drinks the water I give them will never thirst. Indeed, the water I give them will become in them a spring of water welling up to eternal life'" (John 4:13-14).

His Grace Makes Us Generous

By Michael Youssef, Ph.D.

Those of us who are the recipients of God's amazing gift of salvation have no option but to give of ourselves in gratitude. It is both an attitude that we strive to develop in our hearts and one that naturally arises by the power of the Holy Spirit as we mature in faith.

Generosity flows from grace. Just as God's grace toward us makes Him generous, the more we cherish the grace we have received, the more generous we will become. The more we comprehend the incredible gift of eternal life, the more we will give of our time, our finances, our energy, and our resources, not in an effort to pay God back for His gift—we could never pay Him back in 20,000 lifetimes—but because we are inwardly and irrevocably changed by our unchanging God.

Because God is changeless, you and I need to change, to become more and more like Him, moving from one point of glory to the next. We are to change in attitude from owners to stewards, from hoarders to sharers and sowers. For, we have a sure hope—the promise of heaven with our loving Father, a future that will infinitely fulfill all our deepest hopes and longings. Our faithful God frees us to give generously today, so let's set our hearts in heaven and use all we've been given to invite others into the hope of eternity found in Christ alone.

Prayer: Father, as I reflect on the gift I have received in Christ, work in my heart to make me generous in turn. May I set my hope and treasure in heaven with You, that I might be free to love and give with abandon. I know my all is You. I pray in the name of Jesus. Amen.

"One person gives freely, yet gains even more; another withholds unduly, but comes to poverty. A generous person will prosper; whoever refreshes others will be refreshed" (Proverbs 11:24-25).

Meeting Between Bowls of rice. Most of you should know me pretty well. I no longer accept very many friends because I feel it’s not for me. And of late not a fan of the platform. Almost every FB friend I have known on some level, you are not just a number. But if you are still on my FB, it’s because we have some connection. I would love to see if we can still chat more than just likes... I decided to participate in an experience called “Meeting between Bowls of rice”. The idea is to see who reads a post without a photo. We are so consumed with technology that we forget the most important thing: good friendship. If no one is reading this message, it will be a short social experiment. But if you finish this till the end, I would love you to comment in ONE WORD about us. For example, a place, an object, a person, a moment in which you remember us. Then copy this post and post it on your page (don’t share) and I’ll go to your page and leave a word that reminds me of you. Please don’t comment if you don’t have time to copy the text. This will destroy the experiment. Let’s see who spent their time to read and respond according to the common story.

The Burden of Guilt
Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavily burdened, and I will give you rest.

— Matthew 11:28

Guilt breaks lives down like a caustic acid. Our mental institutions are filled with individuals who are utterly destroyed by guilt. One psychiatrist has said that every person in every mental institution in the country is there because of feelings of guilt.

I shared the Good News of Christ with a man, and then I asked him if he would like to receive Christ as Lord and Savior of his life. I shall never forget the way he phrased his answer. He said: “Yes, I would like to get rid of this burden of guilt.”

Are you carrying such a burden? The sojourner in Bunyan’s Pilgrim’s Progress begins the story with a great, heavy burden on his shoulders—a burden of guilt that he cannot get rid of or unleash. Finally, he is pointed to a Cross on top of a hill. He climbs that hill and kneels before that Cross. Suddenly the burden breaks loose and rolls down the hill into a dark tomb, never to be seen again.

God completely removes our burden of guilt. As far as the east is from the west, so far is the punishment for our transgression removed from us.

Question to ponder:
Are you still carrying the burden of guilt that you could leave at the foot of the Cross?

Jesus, of whom David spoke 1,000 years before He was born, is the Lord of lords and the King of kings right now. Jesus is reigning and ruling supreme as we speak. Every one of us has only two choices: We can bow to Him and revere Him with deep gratitude and thanksgiving for His love and forgiveness, or we will become His footstool. The choice is ours.
