This past weekend we headed down to Homestead speedway to end the season racing the ASRA team challenge. The start of the race was going well until an incident happened that red flagged the race at lap 26 or so.
I passed Lloyd who had crashed in Turn 5. He appeared trapped beneath what I thought was the airfence on the outside of the track. I passed the ambulance in between Turn 7 and 8 and motioned for them to get over to Lloyd. I pulled in the pit and we refueled and had a look at the bike and tires as we expressed concerns for Lloyd. We spoke with Eric Helmbach (Grease Monkey Racing) and his wife in the pit and we grew anxious as time went by. Steve Hoffman (Grease Monkeys captain) returned to his and Eric's pit after speaking to an official or corner worker. I looked into Steve's eyes and he shook his head and I knew the worst had happened.

We lost a great person on Saturday. Lloyd was a positive influence on everyone he knew and met. He was a fierce competitor and a gentleman on and off the track. He was a mentor and friend to me and many others. He was a beast of an athlete, cool as hell and always trying to improve himself and the world around him. He was a good friend and I have great respect for him. He has a sweet family who I feel fortunate to have met and who I mourn for greatly during this time. Lloyd left a positive imprint on this world and we should strive to do the same. We will miss him greatly. Rest in peace Lloyd Bayley.

We wrapped up the Wera/n2 endurance season this past weekend down at Barber Motorsports park. The competition has been great this year to say the least. 3rd place overall in this race left us with 3rd in class for the season and 4th overall. Only finishing off the podium in one race due to a crash.
The Dunlop Tires always worked well and kept us going fast all race.
Big thanks to Ryan Jones for putting in some fast laps everywhere we went. Would like to give a special thanks to Jason Pipes for his help this season, he has really put in some hard work in the pits.

New track for us this weekend and with limited dry laps Friday we had to make quick work of the 4hour endurance race. Ryan Jones put us up front from the start but unfortunately lost the rear coming on the back straight and sent it down the road. Luckily we were able to make it back to pit for repairs and back out we went. Lost some laps while making repair but ended up 3rd in class when the checkers flew. Big thanks to

Jinba Ittai Motorsport: Weekend Recap at Roebling Road Raceway

After many team conversations the team put their heads together to come up with a race plan. The team decided since Ryan had the faster pace for the weekend that he would start the race and try and stick with the leaders. Joel was not used to not starting the race and had some nerves from the previous DNF at Summit Point. Ryan not only hung with the leaders he lead the race after the first three laps and he hung around in the top three until he brought the bike in for fuel around lap 40

This now meant that it was Joel's turn to take to the track. He hopped on and dipped into the mid 16’s and ran consistent quick laps until a rain shower broke out about lap 60. The team did not have rain tires mounted and did not yet have a front quick change kit from fast Frank’s racing. However, Harlan Barnes a hometown Marion crew volunteered his R1 wheels and we quickly mounted rains all the while Joel continued to ride in slicks.. By the time that was done the rain had stopped and the track was drying quickly. Joel continued through the rain on slicks and brought the bike in on a red flag at about lap 86.

WERA does not allow work on bikes during red flags, not even tire warmers. This meant the plan was to set Ryan out with the remaining fuel in the tank and then come in for fuel and a rear tire. Four laps later Ryan was back in the pits and we quickly sent him back out with a full tank and fresh rubber. He continued to keep us in the hunt for the win until about lap 115.

Joel took over for the final 30 minutes of the race and we were able to secure a second place overall and second place in the heavyweight class just behind Army of Darkness, America’s longest running and most successful endurance Racing team.

The podium finish was a huge confidence boost and we are eager to make a couple changes to the bike and compete again at Nelson ledges Ohio in mid August.

This team and this result would not be possible without our crew chief Mack Laughridge and crew Jason Pipes and Harlan. Many thanks goes out to Ryan Jones for being such a great teammate.

And lastly thank you to all our great sponsors who make this racing effort possible:
