Congratulations to Lauren Zent a recent recipient of the Don Prouty Memorial scholarship, established by longtime Bismarck public school educator Pam Ihmels. Lauren graduated from Century High School and plans to attend Concordia College in Moorhead, MN, this fall, majoring in elementary and special education.

Congratulations to Kya Guidinger the first recipient of the Don Prouty Memorial scholarship established by long time Bismarck Public Schools educator and Don’s Driving School instructor Pam Ihmels. Kya is an outstanding recent graduate of Legacy High School. She plans to attend the University of North Dakota this fall majoring in elementary education.

It is with great gratitude and excitement that we announce the establishment of the Don Prouty Memorial Scholarship. The scholarship will be awarded to an outstanding Bismarck public school senior who intends to major in education. Longtime friend and Don’s Driving School instructor Pamela Carlen Ihmels started this scholarship to continue Don’s legacy in education. It is with great sadness that I announce the death of my father Don Prouty, the founder of Don’s Driving School. Don died October 22 at home. He enjoyed training thousands of drivers in the Bismarck/Mandan area for the nearly 50 years he taught driver’s education.

It is with much gratitude that Don’s Driving School announces the retirement of its founder, Don Prouty, after 50 years of teaching drivers education in the Bismarck/Mandan area. Don taught drivers ed in Bismarck for one year before establishing Dons Driving School in 1970. Since then thousands of students of all ages have become more defensive, confident drivers. Not only did Don create a successful business, his biggest success and contribution however has been his positive influence on generations of youth. Don always connected with his students and enjoyed teaching. Dons Driving School will continue to provide an excellent drivers education program to the Bismarck/Mandan and surrounding areas. Thanks Don!!!
