Well Thats A Wrap..The gang threw me a Happy Retirement Party today. Have to admit that a couple of tears peeked through.
These guys are the best friends and Co Workers I could have ever have hoped for. Some have been with me nearly 30 yrs. I will miss all of them and all of you !

Coffman's Metals LLC will close for the Christmas /New Year Holidays on Dec 24th and reopen on January 5th under new management.
Jodi & Jennifer and all the familiar gang will carry on . But I will be retiring on January 5th.
After 46yrs I felt the time was right for me . I have been so blessed to have had the honor of working with some of the best people that I know. And to have served the 10s of thousands of 3 different generations of customers that have trusted us with giving our best to you.
Thank you from the bottom of my heart for allowing me to serve you for all these years.
I hope you will keep coming and trusting the new owners. I searched hard to find the right company to adopt my business. I believe that Cody and his wife will continue the proud tradition of Coffmans Metals . And with the same crew as always will ensure that you will still feel right at home.
Cody will not only treat you fairly but has plans to expand Coffmans into the premier scrapyard in the state.
Scrap prices are great for copper and aluminum.. Steel improved as well. So get out there and make some money.

Hello Everyone..time to give updates for a new month of November.
Good news is the non ferrous scrap metals is up. New copper hit an all time high. But the mills raised the spreads between new and used copper so its not at a all time high. But it is at a very good price....
Aluminum is also doing excellent on the Comex market for newly smelted aluminum. But they also have widen the spreads for scrap vs new prices. But they too are very good. The only problem with the Aluminum market is that a mill in New York that smelted aluminum cans caught fire and won't come back online for approximately 6 mos., is causing a back up of loads of cans. Every other type of aluminum is doing well.
As for the steel industry.. well those mills are sticking it to us. There is no place to sell other than them and they know it. These tariffs are killing us to go to overseas markets. So everything that we buy in the USA has to go to US mills. No competition means that they offer what they want and we either take it or we don't ..Bastards !

OCTOBER SCRAP METAL PRICES & MARKET OUTLOOK

It has been several months since I posted a report. The reason I haven't is there was very little price change for any of the metals. Just a ebb and flow of a nickel either way. We did a pretty good job of taking orders when the market was on a high note and bought against those higher prices. That makes for a boring report..just keep repeating what I had reported the month before.
Scrap prices are changing for October. Not all of them for the better.. Good news first !
Copper has bounced back to highs of earlier this past spring. We are paying $4.00 for the Brite #1 . Aluminum prices also made a run. Aluminum Cans are .75 cent and old sheet is .70 cents. Auto Wheels are .90 cents lb. Not too bad ..huh ?
Catalytic converters are also making a big splash. Prices for Converters has risen 40% off those rock bottom prices of the past couple of years. . A very welcome change.
Now you tasted the sugar..here is the vinegar. Scrap steel prices have been lack luster since April. But now after 5 months of no change , its going down. Not a lot , but expect down $10 to $20 per ton .
Autos are expected to be $7.00 per 100lb for October. I am just the messenger. The mills are full at the moment. So they are not looking to buy unless they can buy it cheaper.
That's about sums the metal market up at this time.

☆☆ JULY METAL REPORT & SCRAP PRICELIST ☆☆
Happy Independence Day Everyone.. Thought it would be a good time to celebrate some new scrap prices for July as well.
There is good and bad news for scrap prices. Good news first.. Most non ferrous metals are doing pretty well. Aluminum is still strong and demand is good. Copper is great with a twist. The price of new copper is booming , near all time highs on some markets. Trouble is that the mills have more than doubled the spreads that they offer for our scrap copper when pricing it against the price of the new copper . Still , copper is selling well. Catalytic converters are finally coming off the bottom. The prices on them have risen to a new 18mo. high.
Now you had the honey , here is the vinegar. Steel doesn't appear to be going to much this summer. Sorry.. I hope I am wrong. But without any competition from export , the domestic mills are the only game in town. They are being ruthless in their prices being offered . They are receiving 100% of all scrap being recycled in the U.S. . The only way for a meaningful price increase will be fear of a bad winter. Lets see some prices.

The Month Of May Scrap Steel Prices Will Be Horrible ...
With no export markets for scrap steel , domestic steel mills are expected to overflow with material. Scrap yards are expecting lower offers of $30 to $50 off from April prices from steel mills. Not looking good at the moment at all.
Might be a good time for me to go fishing !
Other Metals..such as copper and aluminum are doing just fine. Actually prices are good for aluminum cans, wheels, ect. Copper has gone up in the past few days ..if the mills would just tighten up the spreads some.
Stay tuned , because it's going to get bumpy for a few days as these prices shake out.
