Have you ever noticed how every step feels considered here? As the world walks by to shop the 30 luxury brands, Via Rodeo is their walk through more - over a century of Beverly Hills history.

• Long before Rodeo Drive became a global luxury address - the land was known as El Rodeo de las Aguas, meaning “The Gathering of the Waters.” The Tongva people regarded the area as sacred.

• In 1906 - oilman Burton Green and his investors developed the land that would become Beverly Hills. The name Beverly Hills followed in 1906, and Rodeo was among the city’s original streets, constructed in 1907.

• The street evolved from a road serving a growing residential community, transforming into an international luxury destination decades later.

• 1961 changed everything - Fred Hayman opened Giorgio Beverly Hills, widely credited with helping transform Rodeo Drive into an international fashion address. Gucci, Tiffany & Co., Van Cleef & Arpels and other major names followed.

• By the 1970s, Rodeo Drive had become a global name. The Rodeo Drive Committee was founded in 1977 to help shape and promote the destination.

• In 1989, Two Rodeo Drive and Via Rodeo opened. The European-inspired pedestrian destination introduced the cobblestone walkway, architectural details and a distinctive setting at the southern gateway to Rodeo Drive.

• Today, Rodeo Drive’s iconic three blocks are home to more than 100 leading international luxury brands, making it one of the world’s most recognized addresses for fashion, jewelry, watches and hospitality.

• Two Rodeo is known as the gateway with the Via Rodeo promenade bringing together 30 Maisons, art galleries, dining and European-inspired architecture. So, from anywhere in the world, next time you walk the cobblestones, look down too because you are walking through a beautifully choreographed unfolding history that began long before.
