After the long winter finally got the boat out of storage and moved from Bayfield to Saxon Harbor. Did a little fishing on the way. Worked from 10 fow out to about 30 fow. Running surface stick baits off the planer boards and spoons on the down riggers. Ended up picking up 5 Lake Trout, 4 Coho, 2 Browns, and 1 King. Thank you to Lane, Ray, and Nick for coming on the trip and Ashley for getting us to Bayfield and the truck back.

July 29th through August 2nd we ran quite a few trips. July 29th had a afternoon half day that started out with the Lake a bit rough. Ran up to the Pine put the waves behind us and had a decent ride down back toward Saxon. Ended with 7 Lake Trout, a Coho and a Herring. July 30th had a full day and the Lake had settled down a bit. Trolled East and West from the Point to well past the Pine in 70 to 100 fow. Ended the day with a limit of Lake Trout, a Coho, and the first Lake Superior Walleye I have ever seen in my 6 years chartering. Saturday ran double half days. Ran the same water as Friday. Morning produced a limit of Lake Trout. Afternoon was a bit slower and we tried out a bit deeper. Ended with 11 Lake Trout and 1 Coho. Sunday we were suppose to move the boat to Black River Harbor with a crew but the Lake in the morning was not cooperative. In the afternoon it clammed just enough and Will and Cody were in town so we made the run. Took longer than normal but head on the boat handled the 4 to 6s great. Dropped a couple lines in once we arrived and picked up a nice Steelhead and 4 Lake Trout in an hour or so. Glacier Girl Charters welcome back to Black River Harbor after 4 long years. Tuesday August 3rd had a full day. Run to the East off the Presque Isle and set in 90fow. Trolled up to the Carps. Tried deep out passed 300fow once but that slowed way down so we came back in. Day ended with a limit of Lake Trout, a Coho, and 2 Pinks. Thank you to all the charter crews who have booked with us.

Over the past weekend fishing continues to be good out of Saxon. Fished Friday evening until Sunday Morning. Friday evening started up by Little Girls Point in 80 to 90 fow. Had a good evening catching 13 Lake Trout and 1 Herring. Saturday morning had a 5 person crew and started in the same water and then move a bit more East. Ended that trip catching a limit of Trout plus 3 Herring for the crew. Saturday evening took a break from charters and took my cousin Marty and his guys out for a bachelor party trip. Moved even more East all the way up near Black River Harbor. Would have been nice to pull in for the evening. Not quite yet though. Ended that trip with another limit of Trout and a Herring. Sunday morning had a crew of 2. Finished the weekend out with a limit of Trout fir them and me and also a Coho. Thank you to all who fished with us. Sorry don’t have pictures of all trips. It was too dark for some and other crews don’t take any.

Been awhile since I have posted anything. Been real busy and just haven’t had the time. Fishing out of Saxon Harbor remains decent. Mostly Lake Trout but a few others mixed in here and there. Here is a rundown of July with some pictures. July 2nd did a double half day with the same group just switching people at noon. Ended up with 14 Lake Trout for the day I believe. July 3rd had 2 half days. Morning we ended with 8 Lake Trout. Afternoon ended with 9 Lake Trout (No pictures). The 6th we were blown off the Lake before lines could be set. 10th had a full day ended with a limit of 18 Lake Trout, a King, and a Steelhead (no pictures). 11th had a morning half day ending with a limit of 12 Lake Trout, a Coho, and a nice Brown. On to the 17th with a morning half day that ended with 14 Lake Trout. At this point we have been fishing East of the harbor in Michigan near Little Girls Point in about 80fow. Fish have been moving different depths as the water temperatures change. We have been getting action everywhere from 35 down to the bottom. There has been talk of Black River Harbor opening. If it does we may move the boat back and forth for a bit. But that is yet to be seen. Thank you to all who have booked with Glacier Girl Charters this season.

Late on this one. Fished 5/30/2021. My brother Will, and nephew Cody came down from Minnesota to fish along with Marty and I. Had a decent day ending with a Lake Trout limit, 3 Coho, and a Brown. Water was cold in shore so we worked out and had success from 100 to 150 F.O.W. Fish the surface to 20 feet down with stick baits and some spoons. Got one weighing in at 17lbs.

Got a start to the charter season last Thursday 5/20/2021 with the first trip of the season. Weather cooperated and we were able to put a nice catch of fish in the boat. Had a mix of Lake Trout, Coho, 1 King, and 1 Brown to end the day. Thank you guys for returning to Glacier Girl Charters for another round of Lake Superior fishing.

Got out yesterday 5/8/2021 with Family and Friends to give the boat and gear a proper run down before the charter season really gets going. Had a great day out on Lake Superior with some pretty good fishing. Headed to the east out of Saxon Harbor past Little Girls Point and trolled everywhere between 20 fow to 60 fow with fish scattered everywhere. Most were in the top 10 feet and came on stick baits but did have a couple down 15 to 20 on spoons. Ended the day with 16 (7 Coho and 9 Lake Trout). Sorry I’m not the best at remembering to take pictures.

Earliest the boat has ever hit the water. Now time to get out and start locating some fish. Some Coho around but not much for Lake Trout moving in yet. Hopefully in a couple weeks, some good weather will get them on the move. Good bye Bayfield for the year and tied up back in Saxon.

Well with the way the weather has been I figured it was time to start getting the boat ready. Spent the day waxing and doing some preventative maintenance. Tim, Huston, and a friend stopped by and helped for a bit. Thank you guys. Hopefully the weather keeps up this trend and we can be fishing soon. 🎣

8-15-2020 and 8-16-2020 Saxon Harbor, WI. Had two great crews over the weekend. Saturday started in rough conditions but the crew handled it well. Had to pull gear about 2 hours in and head to where a small sailboat had flipped. Luckily everyone was okay. Gogebic County Sheriff and another fishing boat handled getting the people out of the water and to safety. They also pulled the half sunk boat to safety. Good job guys. We reset and continued on slow fishing but the Lake had finally decided to start calming down. Ended the day with 8 Lake Trout. Sunday started slow as well but at least the lake was cooperating. As morning went on fishing picked up and the crew was able to end with there limit of 12 Lake Trout.

A rundown and pictures from the weekend. Went out Thursday night with friends Michael, Lucy, and their family for a fun boat ride and a little fishing. Lake and weather were beautiful. Fished the 90 fow range. Fishing was good. Kept enough for a meal or 2. We got 7 Lake Trout and then threw a few back. Friday the wind picked up and blew strong from the south making the 90 fow range murky and very slow fishing. With a little networking help we moved out to the 150 fow range where the water was clear and managed to put 9 Lake Trout and 1 Steelhead in the boat. (No Friday pictures). Saturday the wind backed down early and the 90 fow range was clear again. Started there with success. Was able to get the crew their limit and mine in a few hours and threw a couple back. One thing learned, Lucy is a much better photographer than I.
