Why do we spray our personal vehicles this time of year?
Spring and summer are the best seasons for oil-based undercoating. Months of warm weather allows the oil to fully pe*****te crevices and seams and protect your vehicle where it’s needed most. Avoid the fall rush—book your appointment now through August and get $25 off. After August pricing returns to normal.

When you undercoat a vehicle with oil based undercoating, you can’t hit every single nook and cranny of a complex undercarriage. So we rely on the ability of oil based undercoatings to creep in all directions to help protect surrounding metal. Here’s a perfect example of why I love Platinum Rust Protection. This creep happened overnight in my shop. That’s a lot of creep for such a short amount of time. This coating is thick enough that it doesn’t wash off easily, but it is also thin enough to still creep and move and protect internal cavities and external surfaces when it is properly applied. We Love protecting your vehicle here at American Rust Control, and if your vehicle has light surface, rust, we can treat it and prevent it from getting worse. We are located in Southwest Michigan and have clients that come from all over the Illinois, Indiana, Wisconsin, and Ohio regions, and even have clients as far as Louisiana and Alabama come to us to take care of their trucks.

We worked overtime this season to get your vehicles protected for winter in Michigan. As bad as this winter has been (or good depending on your perspective) we are relieved we were able to get most of you in before things went south. Speaking of going south, our family took some much-needed private family time to celebrate birthdays and thaw out a little down south. The weather has been fantastic here and our little sport wagon is appreciating the warmth too. Yes, our van is oil undercoated every year and yes, it’s been in the 70°’s and 80°’s and the oil has been creeping. We don’t just spray trucks, we take care of your family vans, sedans, fleets, and even a Fiat convertible or two.

I see a lot of oil based undercoaters using the black tinted oils on undercarriages that frankly, don’t call for it. If your undercarriage is relatively clean and rust free, I’m always going to spray clear Platinum Rust Protection on it. If you have a truck with minor surface rust, then you can request the black for a little more $$ and once again, I’ll only spray that on frame, suspension, and axle components that would have come from the factory black. Everything else on the underbody and all of the body cavities will have clear oil applied. I’m not a fan of turning your entire undercarriage black. This can hide future fluid leaks and also can make your mechanic rethink his life choices when everything he touches underneath turns him black. I’m not perfect, but I genuinely take pride in what I do for your vehicle. Call us and get your vehicle scheduled to come into our shop and be washed and undercoated this winter.
