Bittersweet weekend at Westside Shell, for those that don't know the whole story - we were pretty much ran out by big money, out of town investors.
2019 would have marked 34 years serving the Westside and remaining one of the last full service stations in the state of Oregon, we were in the process of purchasing the property in early 2016 when a group from Washington made a substantially higher cash offer, the station was sold and after many attempts on our end, no lease option was offered.
Roughly 6 months later the property was sold a 2nd time to east coast company and once again after reaching out multiple times, no lease option was offered. As a small family owned business we did not have the resources to fight or compete for the property and had to lick our wounds.
Summer of 2018, after multiple failed attempts to reach out to the new owner / owners and secure a lease, we were presented with a proposed development notice and told we had 90 days to unknown to move out - once again, no lease, no short term rental agreement, no actual date that we needed to vacate, just the mystery of "we'll get back to you".
Thankfully after over a year of searching for a new location, looking at multiple options, the overwhelming stress of the current location, we found Northgate Auto and secured a new location for our repair shop.
We are so thankful to find a new home and continue serving Central Oregon as we have for the past 33 years and look forward to many more decades.
We thank all of you that have trusted us to serve your needs over the past 3 decades and we're very sad to go out in this fashion, unfortunately this is what growth looks like in our small town.
