π More traffic? CHECK!
π¦ Deer doing their best impression of a NASCAR pit crew crossing the road? DOUBLE CHECK! π
Fall is here in Central Texas, and our four-legged friends are ON THE MOVE! π¦π¨ Deer are more active during the fall, especially around dawn and dusk. Add shorter daylight hours, busy roads, and your daily commute, and youβve got a recipe for some unexpected roadside visitors!
ππ¦ TIPS TO KEEP YOU AND BAMBI SAFE:
π SCAN THE SHOULDERS! Watch the sides of the road, especially near wooded areas, fields, and deer crossing signs.
π SLOW DOWN AT DAWN & DUSK! These are prime times for deer activity, and reduced visibility makes them harder to spot.
π‘ USE YOUR HIGH BEAMS WHEN APPROPRIATE! On dark roads with no oncoming traffic, high beams can help you spot deer sooner.
π¦ ONE DEER? EXPECT MORE! Deer often travel in groups. If one crosses, keep your eyes peeled for its friends!
π DONβT SWERVE! If a collision is unavoidable, brake firmly while maintaining control. Swerving can send you into oncoming traffic or off the road.
π΅ PUT THE PHONE DOWN! Eyes on the road, hands on the wheel, and attention on the drive!
π GIVE YOURSELF ROOM! Keep a safe following distance so you have more time to react when trafficβor wildlifeβhits the brakes!
β€οΈ Remember: Getting there a minute later is better than having a close encounter of the deer kind!
From your friends at Kwik Kar Belton, weβre wishing everyone safe travels, happy rides, and a deer-free commute! π§‘
