The Brass bodied front carb of a Vincent Black Shadow. Originally sand cast by AMAL due to the low production numbers of this unusual configuration. The rear carb was the usual zinc die cast carb.

The fact that AMAL still produces this carb new, in Brass, is a detail I love. It gets pretty nerdy at this level, but its where I prefer to hang out.

Barber race recap....

2026 Barber was a bit unorthodox for us. Our Honda, which has always been an ultra reliable, problem free bike, gave us fits all weekend long.

With tropical storm Isaias rolling in, we knew we were in for wet racing. We struggled with a massive missfire and ended up taking 3rd on Saturday, losing our bid for a repeat Formula 750 National Championship.

While we are losing that #1 number plate, we gained the #1 plate in Premier 500, winning the National Championship in that class.

Our Premier 500 Championship was not marked with track records and jaw dropping performances, but rather persistence and effort. We learned a ton, and are excited to try another Sponsored motorcycle next year, a Ducati 450 Desmo.

Everything happens for a reason, I'm glad we ran into the problems now, and not at the start of next year's Vintage Cup.

The Barber Motorsports museum is a must see, but on my race weekends, its difficult to get there during the day to enjoy it.

This year I had a friend invite me to view the museum after hours via "Motorcycles by Moonlight" the signature benefit dinner for the Barber Motorsports Museum.

Incredible on every level! The bikes, food and company! It was a wonderful tribute to the late George W. Barber Jr.

Roadracing a British Single cylinder can be difficult in the terms of reliability.

We were offered an incredible BSA Goldstar at the start of the year to campaign in the Premier 500 class. We jumped at the chance, but quickly found out how maintenance hungry they could be. This one liked to destroy the flat tappets.

We reached out to our sponser SPECTRO Performance Oils. They had an interesting take. We should try doubling our zinc levels. They had an automobile oil that may work great for our situation. We could use this oil in the British Single because the engine oil and clutch oil are not shared.

We installed new tappets, changed our oil to Spectro Motor Gaurd and went racing. Now headed into the last race weekend of the year, and fighting for the National Championship, we look back and realize we never went through another tappet, all wear was gone.

Britsh bikes, BMW'S or any motorcycle that doesn't share clutch and engine oils, you have to give this product a try. Its worked wonders for us!
