After careful consideration and lengthy discussions, we have decided to cancel the car show.
Tony, Rob, and myself started these car shows over 10 years ago as we all had a love of old cars and wanted to bring people together to raise money for charity. Those of you who were with us from the beginning will remember our first show at the parking lot of Stop and Shop (where Rob and I worked and became friends). We tried our next show at Chestnut Hill Elementary school but it was way too hot and there was no shade. Finally, we found our home on the town common which is where most of you know us from.
We grew from a show with about 60 cars on display to a show featuring over 200 cars each year. Our best show was close to 250 cars and we had to get creative to fit them all on the common.
But over the years the time, energy, and expenses it took the the three of us to plan, organize, and hold the show was challenging, but we were able to pull it off.
As we began organizing this years show (after a 2 year break due to COVID), we came to the realization that we were no longer going to be able to run a successful show, or at least it wasn’t going to be the show that all of you have come out to expect year after year. Most of our volunteers were no longer able to help us, almost all of my contacts for food and drink donations were no longer able to support us, and the expenses have gotten too much for us to afford. Plus Tony, Rob, and I are busy with work and family commitments.
We enjoyed hosting the car show year after year and were overjoyed at the turnout we always received.
I want to give a sincere Thank You to all of the volunteers, local businesses, friends, and family that have helped us throughout the years. We couldn’t have done this without your support.
Most of the car owners know me as I am the guy who always walked around during the car show shaking hands and saying “Thank You for coming to my car show”.
Well, one last time - Thank You for coming to my car show.
Tony, Rob, and I will miss seeing you all. Best wishes and stay healthy.
