The results are in ‼️

During Monday's five-hour Move Over enforcement initiative, Michigan State Troopers and Motor Carrier Officers made 798 traffic stops across the state.

Of those stops, 127 drivers were stopped for failing to move over for emergency vehicles with their emergency lights activated.

Every traffic stop represents a preventable risk to first responders working along our roadways.

Remember: Michigan’s Move Over law mandates that when a driver sees an emergency vehicle on the side of the road with its lights on, they must move over a lane and slow down at least 10 miles per hour below the posted speed limit. If moving over is not possible, the driver must slow down to at least 10 miles per hour below the posted speed limit and proceed with caution. The Michigan law applies to police vehicles, fire or EMS vehicles, construction vehicles and tow trucks.

Additional enforcement included:
• Speed: 134
• Seat belt: 8
• Texting: 19
• Window tint: 15
• Other violations: 60

State troopers from Michigan, Kentucky, Ohio and Pennsylvania will conduct high-visibility enforcement focusing on drivers who disregard the Move Over law, with officers addressing reckless and distracted driving behaviors near emergency vehicles.
