Hey folks, just a quick update on availability for the 2026 season. The calendar is starting to fill up. Below are the remaining dates for summer offshore trips and fall striped bass. For flexible groups, I do have a couple of “stand by” October fall tuna chunking trips available (not listed). The way these trips work is that you commit to a trip with your group, and when the fish show up, you get the call, and we go at the next available window. This way, we can ensure your group gets out, and we’ll put on fish. Works great for October when the days are short, and the weather can be unpredictable. Text or call Dave at 609-577-2797.

Huge congrats to Kevin McGonigle, who made the Detroit Tigers opening day roster. I had the pleasure of hosting Kevin this past fall on a charter as a part of the pro team. We all know he’s an amazing ball player, but you should see him crank in those striped bass. I’ve suddenly become a Tigers fan. You can catch the game tomorrow afternoon vs. the San Diego Padres at 4:10 EST.

The 2026 season has officially started. Took advantage of the nice weather window and got a head start on the spring checklist. The main project this year is painting the hull with Fighting Lady Yellow Awlgrip. The original gelcoat has significantly faded over the past several years; you can see in the picture of the transom, where the lettering has been removed, how much she’s faded—now a cream-vanilla color. We’re also fixing a bunch of dings and “swing and miss” gaff shot marks, and she’ll be back to her beautiful yellow later this spring with the addition of a gray boot stripe. I included a picture from when she was floated in Maine in 2019, so you can see the difference. I also added a couple of heavy-duty hinges to make it easier to access the engine. Hopefully, the weather stays good, and we’ll be chasing tuna before we know it. Reach out if you’re interested in a trip. Could use some fresh caught ceviche.

Fresh tilefish ceviche. Pretty simple to make offshore. Pro tip: prep your ingredients in advance. Any white fish will work. Mahi mahi, golden or blueline tilefish, red snapper, etc. and yes, It just tastes better 75 miles offshore. Ingredients: enough lime/lemon to cover fish, cilantro, salt, pepper, red onion, red pepper, jalapeño and your favorite chips. Let it sit in the citrus for 30 minutes to cook. Add avocado at the end for creamy texture. Enjoy!

We’ll once again be running offshore trips from both Beach Haven and Holiday Harbor Marina, Waretown this summer. Departure locations depend on whether the fish are in our northern or southern zones. Barnegat Light, NJ. Throwback to this 5 for 1 striped bass catch for one my groups. No AI or filters needed for this catch. Note: Each trip, all harvested and released fish are logged and reported to NJ Fish & Game as part of the Charter Boat Program. This information will be used to manage future stock assessments.
