**Little Egg Inlet Update** — The entrance buoys in LEI (Buoys 1-4) are still near the bar on the north side of the channel. Fortunately, there is a safe, deep channel on the south side that just needs to be accurately marked. For now, when entering the inlet from the ocean, stay at least 100 yards south of buoys 1-4 and head to buoy #5. Once you reach #5, the channel is properly marked, and you are good to go. I contacted Aids to Navigation and the USCG Sector Delaware Bay; they responded kindly and assured me they would escalate the issue. If more people report this, we might prompt a buoy tender to come and re-mark the inlet. Here are two contact numbers. If there’s no answer, leave a message. Let me know in the comments if you make a call.

Had the Hamilton group out for a trip to the canyon. The weather was perfect, no Canadian smoke, but unfortunately the fishing was slower than we had hoped. The good news is we landed a bull dolphin, 25lb class and Paul reeled in his first tuna, a 50-60lb class yellowfin. We marked them a few more times but couldn’t get them to bite. I guess I turned left when I should have turned right. 🤷‍♂️ Back out after the blow this week. Hopefully we get a new batch of fish to move into our zone.

Had the Groton Gun Club from Hunterdon County out today for their first of two tuna trips they’ve scheduled this year. After hearing of outstanding reports from the previous day, we were expecting a banner day. Unfortunately, it doesn’t always work out that way. I knew we were in for a long day when we rolled in to a massive fleet and had no visual signs of life with very little birds, not much bait, and the water quality was not as we expected. We worked the edge of the fleet and had a marlin briefly hooked. We had another mystery bite and finally got our only tuna bite at 10:00am, landing a nice 60-70lb class yellowfin. We decided to make lemonade out of lemons and switched over to tile fishing. We landed over 20 golden tiles in one drift, saving what was a slow day and everyone went home with a pile of fish filets. I hope the tuna are snapping for these guys for their October trip.

First yellowfins of the season. The season was off to a slow start but tuna fishing broke wide open for the Ridley group. We had the pleasure of hosting all four Ridley brothers on an overnight trip. After a solid afternoon of fishing, we decided cut the trip short since we stuffed the box full of tuna and the guys were more than satisfied. Had over 20 bites and took 10 home for the table. We cooked steaks and had key lime pie on the way home and everyone slept in their beds. Wish they were all this easy.

Spring launch take #2. Had to come out for a quick repair due to a leaky a/c seacock valve. Wasn’t an emergency but wanted to get it taken care of before the season got underway. Once again, great job by the Holiday Harbor Marina, Waretown crew and thanks to Fano’s Boat Repair for the expedited service. Back out this weekend on the hunt for Charlie.
