And school break can be the perfect time to knock something BIG off the family to-do list: DRIVER’S ED.

And now that Koala has opened our second classroom, we’re able to create even more opportunities for families to find a class that works.

At Koala, the goal isn’t simply completing a class. It’s helping develop safe, confident and responsible drivers for life.

Take note!

Louisiana OMV to Close Tuesday, September 15, for System Modernization

The Louisiana Office of Motor Vehicles (OMV) will close all customer service centers on Tuesday, September 15, to complete the transition from its antiquated mainframe to its new modernized system.

The conversion to Drive360 represents an unprecedented change for the OMV and a significant transformation in serving Louisiana residents. While the agency recognizes the impact of extending the closure, it greatly appreciates the public’s patience as the agency completes this important modernization effort.

Offices are scheduled to reopen and resume normal operations once additional validation and readiness reviews are completed. Updates will be provided as they become available, and residents are encouraged to check www.expresslane.la.gov.

09/09/2026

Note this if you have business like getting TIP cards, permits, drivers licenses.

All OMV customer service centers will be CLOSED on Monday, September 14, 2026, for system modernization efforts and staff training.

All private companies contracted to do business with the OMV (Public Tag Agents and Auto Title Companies) will be unable to perform driver's license, reinstatement, vehicle registration, and title transactions from Saturday, September 12, 2026, through Monday, September 14, 2026.

Additionally, OMV's website, Expresslane.la.gov, and LA Wallet will experience intermittent outages from Saturday, September 12, 2026, through Sunday, September 13, 2026.

Please do NOT believe everything you see/read on the internet and social media without doing a little bit of research to verify the contents. It doesn't do any good to spread false information. Thank you Louisiana State Police for this post!

𝗙𝗔𝗟𝗦𝗘 𝗜𝗡𝗙𝗢𝗥𝗠𝗔𝗧𝗜𝗢𝗡 — 𝗕𝗨𝗧 𝗔 𝗚𝗢𝗢𝗗 𝗥𝗘𝗠𝗜𝗡𝗗𝗘𝗥 𝗔𝗕𝗢𝗨𝗧 𝗩𝗘𝗛𝗜𝗖𝗟𝗘 𝗦𝗔𝗙𝗘𝗧𝗬

We’re aware of the graphic below circulating on social media claiming that a new Louisiana law has gone into effect.

This graphic is 𝗙𝗔𝗟𝗦𝗘 and was 𝗡𝗢𝗧 produced by Louisiana State Police. There is 𝗡𝗢 such Louisiana law.

But since we have your attention…

Free Child Safety Seat Inspections are available at LSP Troops and fitting stations across the state to help parents and caregivers ensure car seats and booster seats for children are properly installed and used correctly.

Additionally, CarFit is a free educational program that helps older drivers ensure their vehicle is properly adjusted for the safest and most comfortable fit, including proper positioning and visibility.

So no…drivers of a vehicle do not need a booster seat, but making sure everyone in your vehicle has the right fit and is properly secured is always a safe idea.

Parents, we need answers. 😂

When YOU were learning to drive, what was hardest? Drop A, B, C, or D - Bonus points for the story!

🚗 A - Parallel parking
🛣️ B - Interstate driving
↩️ C - Backing up
😬 D - Driving with your parent in the passenger seat

And be honest: Who was more nervous — you or the person teaching you?

Learning to drive is a milestone families remember forever. We're glad Koala gets to be part of it.
