Are you aware of the common failures of the engine in your truck ?
Specifically related to this engines oil requirement’s.
15w 40 is a no longer recommended in the 19+cummins engine design. Prolonged oil change intervals not recommended as well..It could cost you 💰
Each “valve-train failure “ that has been seen at our shop has the same things in common.
1) Prolonged use of 15w40 oil
2) Prolonged maintenance in general
3) Each 19+ Cummins with this issue, has had the same oil sludge build up internally.
In simple terms, running the tried and true 15w 40 in this engine (and a little neglect ) has caused oil starvation for many miles, most likely on start up, The result is internal engine failure.
The findings ? Only #6 rod bearing and major valve train wear. Either way this one needs an engine ….
Sticking to the recommended oil viscosity and type will help prevent this.
