Derek J. Fisher, 35, of Bath, NY, passed away unexpectedly on February 1, 2026.
Derek was a positive and loving person who was always willing to lend a helping hand. He had a lifelong love of cars and could often be found working on them, talking about them, or helping someone else with theirs.
Derek attended GST BOCES in Coopers Plains, NY. He went on to compete in auto body competitions, where he placed first in regionals and third at the state level. He received a full scholarship to WyoTech and then began his career at Goodrich Auto Works. Throughout his 18 years at GAW, he earned the respect and love of his coworkers, whom he considered family.
Derek was the kind of person who showed up for others without being asked, and his kindness, generosity, and warm spirit left a lasting mark on everyone who knew him. He will be dearly missed by his many friends.
He is survived by his mother, Maureen Fisher; his brother and sister-in-law, Brian and Patricia Fisher; his niece, Cecilia; his uncle Patrick; his cousin, Isaak; his aunt Mary Ellen; and many other cherished family members. He was predeceased by his father, Michael Fisher, and his grandparents.
Derek also passed alongside his beloved dog, Marley, his faithful companion who was always by his side. His loved ones take comfort in knowing that he carries her leash into heaven.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Derek’s memory to the Finger Lakes SPCA or the Upstate NY Chapter of the National Multiple Sclerosis Society. Derek loved dogs deeply, and he was devoted to caring for his mother, who lives with MS.
