As I promised, here is an update on myself as far as what my plans are:

I am officially the newest registered student at summit barber school in Peoria. A year since I've closed the shop I have finally found something that interests me. I have postponed moving out of state until I am graduated from school. The program is a year to 16 months. I am super excited for this new career. Some of the benefits I see is that I wont have to starve through winters anymore(not a weather related career), I can make my schedule fit my life, way lower overhead, and last but not least when I am done working for the day all jobs are done. No more people calling everyday to "see how things are going". Hoping this is the change that I have been looking for.
Once I get some clients and experience my logo will loose its oil drips and gain a beard. Dirty Dean's Barber Shop. Then I can start selling apparel again! The logo will live on...

Hope you are all doing well. I miss my customers but I do not miss the stress and deadlines. I will update you all as things progress. Merry Christmas to you all.

Sincerely,
Dirty Dean

Alright folks,
The shop did not sell so I am parting it out. I need to move a butt load of inventory. As off today everything in the retail is 25% off except interstate batteries. I am going to be working very hard to get all the used parts downstairs and have a parking lot sale soon. Discounts will be getting bigger as we go along. Come see us, buy a part or two, and say goodbye. We are open 10-5 Tuesday -friday. I am sad the shop didn't sell but I am super excited to get out of here and move on to the next chapter. I have to be out of the building by December 1st. There is a window tint guy moving into one of my bay's and a heating and cooling guy moving into the other side. There will be dirty dean's memorabilia I will be posting on here soon if someone is wanting to purchase it for their garage or collections. Stay tuned. This place will be stripped clean by the end of the month!

Shout out to this ol boy. Klinton found himself a new career and he is excited for his next chapter. This guy started here years ago and didn't know too much about motorcycles. He learned alot and eventually became the shop manager which allowed me to be able to sleep in a bit after a long night at the shop or made it possible for me to have sick days or family days. He stuck with me through thick and thin. Hands down the best employee I've had over the last 11 years. I am sad to see him go but I am excited for him and look forward to see where he goes in his next adventure. Thank you for your service my friend. You will be missed. Everyone wish Klinton good luck and say goodbye. He has done alot for the motorcycle community. His last day is Friday.

Announcement:

PLEASE READ THIS ENTIRE POST TO BE COMPLETELY INFORMED AND TO CUT DOWN ON SPREADING MISINFORMATION.

So to start this off yes we are remaining open and working for now.

After working in the motorcycle industry for 20+ years I have decided that I am getting bored with it. Everyday is the same, I feel like I have mastered this industry. The constant deadlines have finally worn me down. I've done some really cool things over the years, met some really cool people and have worked very hard to get where I am at. I have helped thousands of families and veterans in our community. That being said I was considering closing my shop at the end of the year. Much thought has gone into this and I have reflected on how much work I have put into building Dirty Dean's. Just even making the perfect logo was a lot of thought and time. I hate to see it all go to waste and rather than close it and part it out I have decided to see if someone would like to buy it and take over a highly reputable company. This would be sold turn key. Tools, social media, lifts, inventory, used parts, Google account, logo .... everything. Even comes with employees if you treat them right. I would be willing to hang out until December to make sure the new owner has a handle on everything. I would even be willing to train, offer advice, do a meet and greet party for the customers and the new owner or I could just get out of your way if the new owner wants that. So as of today Dirty Dean's is up for sale as a turn key business!

To my customers, I know everyone is very picky about who works on their bike. If you are wanting work on your bike done by us start scheduling now. Don't wait until winter. All jobs scheduled with me will be completed before any transactions happen so you are comfortable knowing the job you scheduled with me is done by me and the potential new shop owner has a fresh start with no incomplete jobs in the shop.

If the shop does not sell we will stop taking work in the beginning of November and start running sales on everything to clear it all out. If it is your dream to own a bike shop and you don't want to start from scratch please come and see me. I will be selling it for a reasonable price. It's not cheap but it is reasonable.
The building is leased and I have spoken with the landlord and he is willing to renew the lease to anyone wanting to buy the business or you can move the shop to another location. The lease is up 12-31-24. If anyone has any questions feel free to reach out during business hours.

Respectfully,
Dirty Dean

Here is a few different pictures from the shop in the last two weeks. I'd like to toot my employees horns for a minute. We had the sweetest lady stop in our shop last week and she was telling us that life has been kicking her ass lately. Her washer broke, then her dryer, then her a/c at her house, and then the water heater went out. She told us her mower went down and that her grass was getting tall. Next thing ya know one of my guys went to her house and got the mower and my other guy had it running the very next day. Then it got delivered back to her house. On the other picture, there is a dad out there that is really sick and it is not looking good for him. He is big into motor cross and bought this dirt bike for his 5 year old daughter if I remember correctly. It didn't run and his last wish was to see his daughter ride this dirt bike. My guys being the sweethearts they are.....the dirt bike has new tires, new brakes, carb cleaned, fresh gas, good look over and within a few days is heading back to that little girl. I wish I could have been there to see the look on her face. So if you see my guys out make sure to give them a pat on the back or buy them a beer. They make me proud everyday. They are always willing to help others. If those boys are ever looking down on someone it's to help them up. Proud boss moment.

Today is the day! Screen Graphics came through for us yet again. We have zip ups, pull overs, beanies, fitted hats, trucker hats, coozies, tshirts, and check out our new patriot ball caps! I know you have all been waiting a long time for this. I've restocked about 7k worth of stuff so far this year and it would be super awesome if you all could come buy some of it! This was a large expense and we would really like to move some of this merchandise! Come and get it boys and girls!

Alright folks we need to have a chat. The owners of the building where my shop is located are selling the building. The asking price is way out of my league. I wouldn't want that kind of payment so by this December my shop is gonna have to find a new home. I would love to stay in Bartonville but there is not a lot of options open right now, Creve Coeur would be nice as well but again not a lot of options. I like the smaller villages because you don't have all the red tape like Pekin, Peoria, and East Peoria. I've heard some horror stories over the years from a lot of small business owners about the unfriendly business environment from the cities. IF I HAVE TO......would you all be willing to travel to those 3 cities to get your bike worked on? I need to start planning now to figure out the future of my shop. I need this to be as non stressful as I can especially after last years nightmare. I don't wanna lose customers or move, sign a lease, or buy a building if I am gonna lose 75% of my people. I know my customers are all over the place so I need to stay close to Bartonville or at least centrally located. The thought alone of moving my shop makes me wanna throw up. The hits just keep on coming I'll tell ya. Love my landlords and they have been great to me over the years. I just have a bad feeling whoever buys this building is either gonna want everyone out or they are gonna jack up the rent again. Either way I do not wanna get caught with my pants down so I need to start planning now if my business is gonna remain open. Let me know in the comments what you all think about the cities. Some of you guys might remember I raised the capitol to start my business on raffling a 1993 Sportster 10 years ago and with the blessings of a lot of good friends and customers. I have turned those dimes into a hell of a huge business but after last year I'm not sure the new place is gonna be quite as nice. I've been lucky so far and I don't expect my luck is gonna last forever. I am a bit nervous right now. This is not a great time to be making big moves in this state or this economy. Starting to feel like I am going against the grain.

Respectfully,
Dean
