Prayers needed for Elizabeth Taylor and babies
We’ve had a rough go since the babies were born. Like I had said, Elizabeth Taylor had no milk in when she went into labor and had no signs of impending labor so I was caught very off guard. Even once the babies were born she really didn’t have much milk in. I could barely express a drop. I let the babies nurse assuming they would bring her milk in…I’ve never had an issue before. But come 24 hours later all the babies had massive weight drops of 10-15 grams. Mama still really had no milk.. I gave her some oxytocin to hopefully induce milk let down as well as some calcium. Later that night I noticed mama felt warm and she had a slight fever of 103.1 (no she does not have a retained fetus…she had X-rays and ultrasound prior to delivery and they showed 4 possibly 5 babies so she clearly had them all). I gave her an injectable antibiotic and some subq fluids and was hoping to get her into our local vet in the morning as Dr Sabshin was out of state. Sadly they couldn’t fit her in. Her fever has resolved now and she finally has some milk in as of early this morning, I’ve been supplementing the babies but still allowing them to nurse in hopes of bringing in milk…and at least getti by some colostrum from her. We’ve had no more weight loss and they each put back on 2-3 grams.
Not quite sure what’s going on with this little family, keeping a close eye on them. Dr sabshin just got back in the state today. If things don’t turn around we will get them scheduled with her but I’m hoping after a couple tough days we are on the upswing now. Please send some prayers for mama and babies ❤️
