Today, the racing world lost one of its biggest stars. 🏁💔

Kyle Busch wasn’t just a NASCAR champion — he was a true racer. From the biggest stages in motorsports all the way down to grassroots racing, Kyle always showed genuine support for the sport at every level. His involvement in micro sprint racing and events like the Tulsa Shootout helped shine a spotlight on the next generation of racers, including many from right here in our region who had the opportunity to race alongside him over the years.

No matter the division, Kyle brought intensity, passion, and personality every time he hit the track. He inspired countless drivers, kids, and race fans across the country to chase their dreams and race harder every lap.

From all of us at Kart Kanyon Speedway, we send our thoughts and prayers to Samantha, Brexton, Lennix, the Busch family, Rowdy Nation, and everyone impacted by this heartbreaking loss.

Thank you for everything you gave to the sport, Kyle. Your legacy will continue to live on in every young racer chasing a checkered flag. 🏁

Weekend Recap – May 1–2, 2026

Kart Kanyon Speedway delivered a full weekend of dirt track action as drivers from across the Four Corners rolled in for two nights of tight racing, strong fields, and nonstop competition. From Friday Night Lights to Saturday’s showdown, the track stayed busy and the racing stayed intense from the first heat race to the final checkered flag.

Here’s how the weekend shook out:

💥 Adult Stock

Friday
• Heat winners: Brendan McLaughlin (Heat 1), Robbyn Davies (Heat 2), Ryan Greenwood (Heat 3)
• Feature winner: Brendan McLaughlin

Saturday
• Heat winners: Howard Cooper (Heat 1), Brendan McLaughlin (Heat 2), Spencer Martinez (Heat 3)
• Feature winner: Brendan McLaughlin

Adult Stock was one of the deepest and most competitive classes of the weekend. Six different heat race winners across two nights showed just how tough the field was. When it came time for the features, Brendan McLaughlin proved to be the class of the field, sweeping both nights. Robbyn Davies, Howard Cooper, and jamie patton kept the pressure on throughout the weekend, but McLaughlin stayed consistent and in control.

🚀 Adult Super Stock

Friday
• Heat winners: Freddie Brooks (Heat 1) and Randy Calcote (Heat 2)
• Feature winner: Randy Calcote

Saturday
• Heat winners: Bob Harter (Heat 1) and Mark Rodgers (Heat 2)
• Feature winner: Bob Harter

Super Stock brought speed and parity both nights, with four different heat race winners across the weekend. Randy Calcote found victory lane on Friday, while Bob Harter answered back Saturday night with a strong feature win. Darell Cordary, Jarrod Bandy, and Mark Rodgers all put together solid runs to keep the racing tight at the front.

👻 Ghost Class

Friday
• Heat winner: Griffyn Bandy
• Feature winner: Wyatt Calcote

Saturday
• Heat & Feature winner: Brendan McLaughlin

The Ghost class delivered some of the most exciting racing of the weekend. Wyatt Calcote powered to the win on Friday night, while Saturday belonged to Brendan McLaughlin, who swept both the heat and feature. Griffyn Bandy and Wesley Kennedy remained consistent contenders across both nights.

🏁 Youth Rookie

Friday
• Heat & Feature winner: Adalyn Smith

Saturday
• Heat & Feature winner: Adalyn Smith

The Youth Rookies continue to impress, and Adalyn Smith put together a perfect weekend, sweeping both nights. Bowen Craig stayed right in the mix with consistent runs, while Caroline Martinez showed improvement and rounded out the podium on Saturday.

✨ Youth Expert

Friday
• Heat winner: Barrett Tenski
• Feature winner: Khloe Tenski

Saturday
• Heat & Feature winner: Khloe Tenski

Youth Expert once again showcased some of the best racing on the track. Barrett Tenski picked up the Friday heat win, but Khloe Tenski controlled the features, winning Friday and completing the sweep on Saturday. Cruz Vigil and Barrett Tenski battled closely behind, making every lap count.

⚡ 600cc Winged Micro Sprints

Friday
• Heat winners: Kasyn Mathews (Heat 1) and Jason Grady (Heat 2)
• Feature winner: Jason Grady

Saturday
• Heat winners: Jason Grady (Heat 1) and Kasen Stringfellow (Heat 2)
• Feature winner: Spencer Hill

The Winged Micros capped off both nights with speed and intensity. Jason Grady picked up the Friday feature win after a strong showing in the heats, while Saturday night saw Spencer Hill rise to the top in a stacked field. With multiple heat winners and tight racing throughout the pack, the Micros once again delivered a show.

🏆 Full Weekend of Racing

Two complete nights, strong car counts, and competitive racing across every class—this is what Kart Kanyon Speedway is all about.

You see a kid in a go-kart and think…
“How cute.”
“A fun little hobby.”
“Something to pass the time.”

You see a dad working on the kart in the pits and think…
“Just tinkering.”
“Just racing.”

You see a mom in the stands, filming, cheering, packing snacks and think…
“Just watching.”

But what you don’t see is everything behind it.

You don’t see the late nights in the garage
when everyone else is inside… and they’re still chasing one more adjustment.

You don’t see the money quietly shuffled around
to make sure tires get replaced, parts get ordered, entry fees get paid.

You don’t see the long drives home
where the car is quiet…
because not every race ends the way they hoped.

You don’t see the kid replaying every lap in their head
wondering what they could’ve done better.

Or the parents choosing their words carefully…
because they’re building a driver,
but more importantly, they’re raising a person.

Because go-kart racing?
It’s not just laps around a track.

It’s discipline.
It’s heartbreak.
It’s learning how to lose
without losing yourself.

It’s learning how to win
without forgetting who helped you get there.

It’s family dinners eaten out of coolers.
It’s sunburns and sweatshirts in the same day.
It’s a life lived between trailers, tools, and checkered flags.

And those kids?
They’re not just driving.

They’re learning how to handle pressure.
How to stay focused when everything in you wants to panic.
How to get back out there… even after a bad run.

So no… it’s not “just a hobby.”

It’s early mornings.
It’s sacrifices.
It’s everything we don’t post about.

It’s a family sport in every sense of the word.

Because behind every kid on that track…
is a whole crew
who gave up a lot
just to watch them chase it.

And if you’ve ever sat in those stands,
heart racing with them every lap…

you already know

this life isn’t simple.
But we’d choose it
every single time. 🏁
